I couldn't be happier for how everything worked out. Everyone at the dealership was well-versed in the state rules and had already deducted the overage to start the deal with the car eligible for the tax credit.

I'm in love with this car!

I have my Pro S RWD on order from the same dealership, so good to hear about your positive experience. I believe final price would come out to be about $500 more than your transaction w/ the 1st edition. Do you think it's likely Campbell VW could do a similar deduction including the additional ~$500?

I'm sure there are creative ways of making it happen one way or another. When delivery gets close, reach out to them to see what can be worked out. They own the Nissan dealership next door, so they have a long history of selling EV's - not that they've had anything in the MSRP ballpark of an ID.4.

Would you be willing to share your final invoice/agreement with the community? Im in the middle of talking with my dealer and would love to see what others are closing for. They also seem to know nothing about the state exemption. Thanks.

Congratulations! My dealer (VW of Kirkland) told me it wasn’t the sales price but MSRP that determined eligibility for the sales tax savings. Sounds like that’s not quite the case. I’m glad it worked out for you and you’re enjoying your car!

MSRP isn't even a real figure - it's "suggested." Only the dealer can determine the selling price. I've spoken with two other buyers in Washington whose dealers, both different from mine, have done it as mine has.

Hope it works out for you. It's a lot of money. Another reason I'm glad I switched from Kirkland (James Park ghosted me way too long).

Just got back from a test drive and talking about the financing for mine (my FE is supposed to be arriving next week!). I asked about the $45k and sales tax and he said they will drop it to $44,999 so that it is below the $45k and qualifies for the reduced taxes. And with a lease (as stated on this board in other places) there won't be much sales tax added to the monthly payment.

Make sure you ask for the OTD (out the door price) and double check all the numbers and agree to them before heading to the back of the house and work with F&I.

I did a little back and forth with VW of Kirkland, it was really chaotic. I'm glad my local dealer came through.

I glad people are getting good customer service at their loca dealerships. I wish I had chosen a different one. Could cost me getting my preorder but will keep looking for cancelation if this falls through. Fingers crossed.

Good luck!

Guess the VW ID4 FE was not in my cards. Backed out of the deal cause the dealer would not budge over $300. Oh well, no future business from me. Now have to find a new dealer to service the EGolf. On to the next one.

Sorry to hear that. Hope you find the right match.

I too am sorry to hear that. Do you mind sharing the name of the dealership so we can avoid them in solidarity with you. Good luck with your continued search, there will probably be a few more FE cancellations at other dealers that may work with you.
