I notice that often when the touchscreen becomes unresponsive (and it does so a lot) that often it's when the car is in the sunlight. I wonder if there's something amiss with the ambient light detection system. It is quite irritating that the whole infotainment system goes face down a lot. I read somewhere that the system gets wonky sometimes when using CarPlay (which I do with my iPhone), but even with my iPhone in airplane mode (and not connected) this happens a lot.

I sure hope we get an OTA update or some kind of fix. It's maddening, although to be honest it's my only real complaint about our car so far.

I haven't experienced this, but I wonder if it might have to do with whatever sensors detect the swipe gestures. IR sensors are often used in gesture control. If they're getting overloaded, the system could be locking up while it tries to make sense of their input.

Stevemaller, I had the same exact issue with the infotainment screen. Car was in the sun mid day while charging at a fast charger. When complete and I tried to drive home the screen was frozen. In addition, the touch buttons were unresponsive. I drove home and after half hour in the garage all was restored. Have not experienced this again.
