When does VW plan on doing the next Software update and what will be included?

v2.3 is available to select ID.3 owners, with more generalized rollout for them expected "soon." USA ID.4 v2.3 is "imminent" ... although we don't know how imminent. Every time we think we know that date passes. 🤷‍♂️

But to be clear.... little change is expected from the OTA. Unlike Tesla, VW has mouthed but yet not demonstrated that the commitment to continuous upgrades is more than competitive advertising fodder. And unfortunately, it appears a uniform characteristic of the EV industry to be more announcement than reality driven. To use an old phrase, "It's all hat and no cattle." Show me the cattle and we've got something. Meanwhile... I'm not so sure. OTA fixes of a material nature may not actually fix any of our ambitions for them before my lease it out.

Best as I can tell... whenever they feel like it... or never. Whichever comes third. Literally. But with German engineering standards, it's always a puzzle, and we expect the fixes to be mostly beneath the surface (things we didn't even know weren't working). Fixes of the obvious stuff that doesn't seem to be working.... just might be working the way the German mind sees these things (but the American does not). So the Zen thing is to lower expectations, and then lower them again. VW's marketing department must be going nuts with the "wait for it... wait for it...".

I talked To my dealer yesterday, he California dealers are receiving the update and they will expect it soon. He said they did not when when it would be released OTA.

It got really quiet after those "first movers" got their OTA. I wonder if VW spotted a snafu and are busy working out issues? The only issue I saw reported was a timing problem, the car only checking for updates weekly, which VW acknowledged and said they're address.

That was already addressed by another ota update pushed to everyone with 2.1 and later (in Europe)

Not according to Battery Life if I'm remembering his video correctly. I'll have to rewatch his 2.3 update video later tonight, but my recollection is something went wrong at the first go, so he had to wait a week before the car would try again. He mentioned this to his VW contact, and said they acknowledged the problem and will be addressing it

yes, and since then an update has been released.

So how is that working? 2.3 from what I've seen is already a 2 part update, a small package followed a week later by the main course.

Has the 1st package been modified? Or is there a pre-update that precedes both?

it's a pre-update.
you need that else it can take forever to grab part 1 as well
my car was on 2.3 from the factory, so i can't comment on the upgrade process itself. what i've seen from Dutch colleagues is that it now checks for part 2 already after the part 1 installation, so you can have both updates the same day.

OTA from VW has taken a chapter from Tesla & the $10K payment for self driving which is coming real soon... likely next quarter...

If that's the case, North American customers may skip 2.3 and go straight into 3.0. A previous roadmap had 3.0 targeted for December.

I remember reading somewhere a statement that the 3.0 update might require us to go to the dealer, just because the size of the thing might be too large for OTA. I wish I could remember where I saw this.
