Using NFC at EA

I just got a new android phone that has NFC and wireless charging. How do I use NFC at EA charging stations. In other words how does the NFC communicate with the EA app on my phone to start a charging session?

Once you have the EA app installed, you just hold your phone over the NFC antenna on the charger. I don't recall if you need to unlock the screen. When it works, it is just that simple.

But there is a gotcha - sometimes it works, but sometimes it causes the Google Pay app to launch instead which results in a failure. Then I have unplug, wait, plug in again, then go to the EA app, find the charger, find the cabinet, and slide-to-start.
Yep, like ericy suggested, you will need to have the phone unlocked, but you won't need to open the EA app.

Just make sure you're placing the phone over the NFC reader that isn't the credit card payment reader (on some of my machines the NFC readers are unmarked and look like a blank black cover is in place of something missing. If you hold your phone over the credit card tap-to-pay reader, and have a payment app installed on your phone, the machine will treat you as a credit card customer and charge you.

The one I circled is the app NFC reader. The other one is the regular credit card one.

And some don't have a logo on the app NFC reader, which is why I was hellaconfused at first trying to get it work with the card reader side.

I have yet to have this work. It just says something about my account. Works great with the app though.

What do you mean by "unlock the screen"?

They mean unlock your phone (nothing to do with the EA charger).

Complicating things, EA uses multiple cabinet styles. On this ABB cabinet, it's here:

That's closer to what I used last night (I used an ABB 150kW). But it was designed for short people - I would need to get down on my hands and knees to even see the damned thing.

The funny thing is that EA support is evidently unaware that these things exist. Numerous people have called, and were told to slide the thing in the app to start charging.
