What happens if you connect wirelessly to android auto. I've connected both wirelessly and with a cable (only once) and both worked correctly. But I prefer connecting wirelessly.
I've also had odd behavior w/ the parking assist camera display. It often will leave the camera display on after backing up and then shifting into drive and moving forward. Have to "X" out of the reverse camera.
I've seen very inconsistent behavior with Android Auto. Sometimes it works perfectly for days and other times it will randomly switch to another phone, not connect at all, or stops working and then starts again. It's hard to describe b/c it does odd things at odd times. It does seem to be confused w/ or by the hot spot feature but not sure.
The rear camera stays on until the forward speed exceeds 10mph. This is to prevent the camera from switching off and on while maneuvering into a parallel parking spot for example.
Thanks! Good to know this is a feature not a bug I might probably should read the manual huh...
Disappointing to hear about all the ID4 problems. Hopefully VW can fix those issues in the next few years.
Yes, sounds like we are still beta testing this for VW. That's the curse of early adopters. Good thing is it can only get better (hopefully?)...
I just wish early on they would commit to more frequent updates to fix these bugs. Every 12 weeks can happen when things are more stable.
One thing to keep in mind regarding update cycles. A car is not a phone. A phone if it has the wrong bug patch or feature enablement will not possibly kill someone. So I am cognizant of the need of a vendor new to the Constant Improvement cycle of not creating a deadly situation to meet the needs of anxious clients.
And as has been stated many times, we are opting to be the Beta Testers of not just a new vehicle, but a new platform. Exciting times ...
Answering the question posted to me about the audio up/down. I was able to adjust up and down the most recent time I connected via wireless to android auto.
Still unable to volume up when wired in.
I've charged once at home and had to restart my session three times at EA, and that ID Strip status bar only showed up once. All daytime, BTW.My first try at charging, with my iPhone, I couldn't get EA to work. With 800 online help we got the charger to charge.
Anyway, (at twilight) the ID light indicated level of charge and moving charging indication in green.
Since that first charge, I haven't seen the ID light indicate any level or charging activity.
As far as I can find, the only ID light adjustment is brightness.
Granted, I've only charged during the day since, but I expected the ID light to still indicate charging.
Could this be a bug, or am I too old (I've had both my COVID-19 vaccinations) to figure this out?
Many on YouTube have recommended turning Lane assist off unless in the highway! For me, its Not an issue. I feel the slight pull in the steering, but I don’t let it control my direction. It’s over before you can even curse about it! 😂
There's a secondary 'B' road I regularly travel that suddenly widens to two travel lanes at a strip mall and then shortly thereafter returns to one lane. The Lane Assist gets confused every time and tugs a bit. I had considered turning it off but it may just come in handy in a real situation and as you cite "It’s over before you can even curse about it!"
From what I can tell, it only stays on when you are sitting in the car during charging (like at a fast charging station) and for a very short time after you plug in if you are not. I assume this is by design since there's no need to have it one while the car is charging alone in the garage or wherever.
I've spent many minutes sitting in my FE babysitting my EA pedestal🙃.
I live in a town with limited cell service. The wifi connect is great, until I stop for a few minutes at the post office and want to have internet on my phone in the car but also still listen to my audiobook. Also when low battery the cable connection is nice. Mostly, both need to work. So im reporting an issue.I connected an Apple Lightning->USB-C cable in the vehicle but I too find the wireless connection more reliable. 🤷♂️
Wait - you got the cars wifi to connect to some external wifi? I can never get this to work to connect to home wifi - I just get some security error before even asking for the wifi password.I live in a town with limited cell service. Wifi working is nice, But that doesnt change the bug report....
I mean, yes... My car connects to my home wifi just fine. But that isnt what I was talking about here. I was talking about using my PHONE on public town wifi while still using android auto (which I can only do with cable...)Wait - you got the cars wifi to connect to some external wifi? The sensor for the hand gesture is built into the capacitive strip where the temperature and volume sliders are located. Waving the hand horizontally above that strip always works for me.About the ONLY thing I've not gotten to work yet is that hand gesture deal. I can wave my hand in front of the screen all I want and NOTHING happens. Yes it's chosen in the menu. I don't care much so I'll wait for the next software fix to come along
