I would have thought that if he'd asked around, somebody might have donated all the parts to him - If my Pro had come with that extra piece of floor which reduces the cargo area, I would likely have yanked it out. I don't sleep in my car, so I don't see that it really has too much use. It's just another cost cutting measure they implemented to keep the base price down. So far, the only thing I would miss from the Pro S package is the upgraded headlights - I would like a set of those

I like the upper height setting of my [FE included] cargo floor panel as it provides a more level surface with the back seats folded down. Easier to carry lumber and other longer items with a relatively flat surface (wish it was fully flat but that would have necessitated thinner seat-seatback padding). Also provides some storage space below, such as for a knockdown plastic tote box to which I applied a bit of velcro-hook to retain it in place. So, we all have differing needs/uses. ;)

btw: There's already a thread here somewhere that describes how to install self-made rails for a panel.

The false floor comes in quite handy for us. In the space between you find a picnic blanket, an extra jacket/sweater for both of us, and shopping bags. All of these items just floated around in the trunk of our previous car. Now they are neatly stored away.

I ordered the parts. One of the mounting rails, the left side, is not available and has to come from Germany. I'll report when I get the parts and I can install the false floor.

Thanks to everybody!

mounting in the id4 is the same.
if you look closely in the carpet you will see a notch

Thanks. I got the parts from one of my local car dealers. I ordered them online via their own portal and that was substantially cheaper - I paid about $150 for all parts and bolts. I just looked at the video and it seems all doable. The video is for an ID.3; the ID.4 parts have an extra bolt hole per side, and extra plastic pins at the back to keep the part in place but it all looks very doable. I'll report when I get to do it.

Thanks for all the leads!

plastic pins would be the same in the Q4 Audi.
And the ID4 should have the markings in the carpet that need to be cut out for the screws.

OK, I started the project on my side. I found and made the holes for all bolts and pins. The next step is to trim the floor/side upholstery to get the tracks to align properly. The videos from the ID.3, UK's ID.4, and the Q4 provide ideas on how to do it but, before I go, has anybody done it for a US Pro? I believe the details vary slightly with the European trims.

I had to trim the sides of the bottom of the upholstery panels. They need to be trimmed so the new plastic panels can fit vertical, plus the extra space is needed so floor, new and old, can fit. I trimmed 1/2 inch on one side (and 1/4 on the other; somewhere in between is probably what I should have done), measured from the crease. The result seems solid. I meant to take photos but I forgot :(. If I do it later I'll post them.

I used a large pin - actually a strong long needle - to locate the holes. I used blue painters tape (3M) to make it easier to mark the locations (and later to mark the cutting line). I did remember to take photos of the holes :)

There are 3 aligning plastic pins per side, two at the end by the tailgate, and one at the other end close to the seats. I found them all very useful, the ones by the tailgate to secure the piece and the one by the seats to align the piece.
