How long does it take to start production? Owner Portal show I've been on 15-1 for 36 days now. It just seems too long, And I have to question if that's true. I've seen a couple of articles indicating adding options like the Gradient package prioritizes your order. My order is the AWD Pro S with Gradient since 2 Jan 2021. Any insight?

Mine has been at 15-1 for about 70 days and is still there, even though a call to my dealer said 9 days ago its in production and the portal should say 15-2. And he said tommorrow 10-18 it should be production complete 20-1. Yours should be up next since you ordered 2 weeks after me.

According to German news reports, the VW factory in Zwickau is again operating on "kuerzarbeit" (shortened work schedule) due to the electronic "chip" shortage and other supply chain issues, which was the case with Covid lockdowns earlier this year. Here are some of my "milestones" while I was impatiently waiting for my ID.4 Pro (moonstone gray):

0. placed original order ($100 deposit) - 19 September 2020
1. reservation locked (factory began assembly) - 15 January 2021
2. left factory - 19 March 2021
3. arrived in US (Baltimore) - 6 April 2021
4. delivered to me (Huntsville, AL) - 11 May 2021

As you can see, patience is the watch word here. Once the car got to Baltimore, it sat for over 2 weeks waiting for an available truck and driver for the trip to Huntsville, AL. I was beginning to wonder if I'd ever see the car! Things should improve when they start manufacturing ID.4s in Chattanooga, TN in 2022, but that doesn't help you..

Jimbo - Very detailed 'background' on the delays, thanks. I ordered my Pro S (Blue / Gray) with an initial deposit on 7/28/2021, and my "Wheel of Torture" originally showed a NOVEMBER 2021 delivery . . . since then, the estimated delivery has shifted to JANUARY 2022.

Where can I find that number?
It’s in the source code of the portal web page for your reservation.
