Is that if you add the car to an existing account, or if you need to open an entirely new account? The cost to add the Verizon 4G LTE service to the ID.4 is $20 per month for unlimited data.
I am not certain but think it is the rate for anyone regardless of your current cell provider. Our last car had AT&T Wireless as the data provider (also $20 a month for unlimited data). We are not AT&T Wireless customers and only were for that car.Is that if you add the car to an existing account, or if you need to open an entirely new account?

Are you using wireless android auto or wireless apple carplay? Both will connect through the car's wifi and (at least with AA) will use the car's data if available.I got a note from Verizon that I’ve consumed half of my 1024 MB data allotmen. As I’ve connected zero devices to the Verizon hot spot, what has been consuming data?
Thanks, that makes sense. I’m using CarPlay, I’d assumed that CarPlay would use the phone’s cellular rather than the car’s.Are you using wireless android auto or wireless apple carplay? Both will connect through the car's wifi and (at least with AA) will use the car's data if available.
What? No. The wifi connection the phone establishes with the car is for phone to car data flow. This is different from activating the ID.4's hotspot. The phone shouldn't be pulling data thru the car under this scenario. Are you using wireless android auto or wireless apple carplay? That's what makes sense but as we should know by now things are often non-sensical. After losing my hotspot within two weeks without connecting anything to it, the info I found was the same as you responded to stating the devices will prioritize their hotspot data rather than device data if it's available when using CarPlay or AA. I don't know why it's set up that way but it apparently burned through my free data within a week. What? No. The wifi connection the phone establishes with the car is for phone to car data flow. Not in my experience. I tested this by disabling mobile data on the iPhone while we were listening to a Spotify song and it didn't skip a beat. Navigation worked fine too. For some reason it seems like Carplay is using the car's data.Yes, Apple CarPlay is via your cellphone's connection and thereby plan. Although if you place the phone on the charging pad (capable phone) it will use the vehicle's antenna to improve range.

Overall, iOS assumes that wifi is free or a fixed rate and prefers wifi whenever available. I would just forget that network until you actually need it. That’s what we have done in our Audi’s.Interesting. It may depend on usage as I just had to verify my iPhone-BT connection to play one of my audio playlists. I guess it comes down to the App's themselves?
CarPlay itself resides within the vehicle computer and then looks to the iPhone for its affiliations. From there some/many may be picked up by the integral CarPlay?
The integral Nav is per the vehicle's system. However I know the ChargePoint App mapping is via cellphone for the same BT verification reason. 🤷♂️
