I really love how deep the hidden compartment in the cargo area is.

Agreed! Storage space looks really impressive:

It looks to me like they're using a twist-beam rear axel to save space -- I think that's often a stated reason for using that design (plus cost savings), but can someone who knows better confirm?

It has the appearance of a sporty golf in a smaller package. Overall an athletic design while maintaining a straight face. Maybe that was the problem the new CEO didn't like with the previous designs suggestions? The ID.3 and the ID.4 started a trend which is a little more curved and playful instead of stable and straight. I like the design of the ID.4 but I was concerned about what they would do with the next iteration. Might be another ID4 or Tiguan EV. It looks like the design language goes into a direction I prefer ;-)

  • shifter on the consol not the wheel
  • 4 window switches
  • really deep 'trunk' area
  • rollers on the switches? Both on the wheel and on the dash.
  • 2 door only?????
  • is the battery pack part of the 'frame' or am I missing something?
shifter on the console not the wheel
Saw that too. Terrible idea and a waste of space.
Although reviewing images I noew believe the shifter is on the right stalk like in the Buzz. The wheel knob on the center console might be more like the dial on Ford's center screen.

You're thinking about the other one, the Torsion-Beam Trailing-Arm Axle. The picture above is the Trailing-Arm Torsion-Beam Axle.
The difference is that the one in the picture, TATBA has the Torsion-Beam ahead of the rear wheel ℄. When viewed from above, it resembles the letter C.
The TBTAA has the Torsion-Beam in line with the rear wheel ℄. When viewed from above, it's the reversed letter C.

This is identical to the GTI rear suspension geometry.
Love almost everything about the design, except the full divider between driver and passenger, and is that cloth on the dashboard?! I don’t understand this trend. Dust and pollen are easy to wipe from vinyl daily, but this is an allergy sufferer’s nightmare. Subaru Solterra (Toyota BZ4X) has a fabric covered dashboard, too.
From another post: " a self-explanatory infotainment system with classic volume control and a separate air conditioning block"
That sounds more like the Ford knob, and rotary controls for A/C.

The shifter is on the steering column like the ID Buzz. The knob on the center console is similar to BMW’s iDrive.

It’s a 4-door, the rear door handles are next two the c-pillar.

Agree, its a four door, but I still don't see the rear handles in the pictures.

They said that because of the EV layout it's the exterior size of a Polo but the interior size of a Golf. Hard to visualize from US viewpoint because Polo is MIA.

ID. 2 and ID. Buzz would be a good two-car combination.
