This vehicle will be able to use MEB+ battery packs. And depending on market it will have multiple choices for battery pack size. It is time to get long trips Autobahn warrior vehicle that is capable to make you want to stop before vehicle is screaming at you " I need recharge "

It would be interesting to see what kind or range they can get from a 77kWh battery.
They say it will be a road warrior with very low aero and long range:

But a larger battery means more expensive car. I am more interested in the range improvement using the same 77kWh battery.
I think these fastback EVs will make people to think twice before buying another SUV. You can get the same functionality, better driving characteristics, and better range at the same time.

It will be built on Buzz platform so available space is same as buzz and it will have ability for double stack if necessary for battery pack modules. 430+ range will not be issue with large pack.This is where majority of EV segment will be in future. There has been new discoveries in inverter software and how electric motor is controlled on interstate speeds.... more efficient inverters....optimization of propulsion units ( motor and 1 speed transmission) .... more efficient users on low DC side. Better attention to Cd aerodynamic properties. SK is coming with more dense chemistry....
Some ID4 owners are already getting 79000+ SOH for SK modules. I hope VW does like Tesla ( software unlock for more juice and more miles per charge).

There will be still future for SUV but people will have to accept banana type of exterior look.... and it will have to be more expensive because it will need more expensive suspension engineering and ability to drop low when driving on interstate speeds....
But for pulling trailer with EV SUV there is still no affordable hardware and battery density to make ICE SUV things of the past.

My real question is what the trunk will look like haha. It says fastback but based on the close-ups of the car, it honestly looks like a hatchback trunk but just with a sloped tail end. If the trunk is like my Prius, then honestly, I'm all in haha. Also, the 438 mi is based on the WLTP cycle, so EPA will likely be closer to 340-350 mi. With that said, Edmunds noted that their range tests with multiple ID.4's beat expectations (by almost 30 miles). If this thing can push 375 miles with a more hatchback than regular trunk and at least 21 cu ft of cargo space behind the second seat and can be $55K or less for a mid-level trim, I would highly consider it.Thankfully, I likely will be coolin' it on the spending after getting my 2023 ID.4 haha, so will probably be in line for replacing my Prius in 2025 or 2026 which will give some opportunity for additional MYs of the ID.7 (and then have some opportunities to test drive and read reviews). Who knows though, maybe I'll just get another ID.4 - I really do love this car.
It is definitely a fastback (sloped rear end, vs. a three box sedan), but it has a hatch, so the more technical term is liftback, which is a type of fastback with a hatch. A hatchback will have more vertical rear end.

Trunk space will be similar like BMW grand turismo vehicle... enough for 5 people baggage and some extra.
5 bodies...and baggage! That's a big trunk!

You can look for pictures on BMW 5 Grand Turismo... it will be more deep than BMW and additional storage close to the rear bumper. People who have bulky staff when they travel will find this vehicle little limited. If equipped with biggest battery pack there will be some sacrifice for trunk space ( double stack modules at the end of battery pack for biggest battery). With rear seats down there will be very little number of people who will not find additional cargo space good enough.
I'm excited to see more photos in Q2 when they reveal more - so much teasing, VW!
