Well 9-13-21 dealer knows nothing about it (update) but I don't think they know much about the car!Got an appointment today will ask about the update....wonder if they even know about it!
Exactly this... why would I buy any software upgrades from VW when they can't even get the included software working correctly?...Instead of "new revenue stream" nonsense fix the damn car. I am running out of patience with VW regarding the car software. At this point I do not recommend the car to anyone unless they fix the software first.
You know, that particular paragraph begins with "In (the) future..." I agree, it's maybe tone deaf given there's plenty of foundational work that needs to get done, but doing one does not cancel the other. The theme of this whole news release is the software updates are coming, which is clearly a good thing. I don't know why that one aside they threw in is so disturbing.Instead of "new revenue stream" nonsense fix the damn car. I am running out of patience with VW regarding the car software. What is wrong with it - as someone who almost bought one yesterday until the dealer decided to add a bunch of crap like etching and permaplate - I would like to know.Instead of "new revenue stream" nonsense fix the damn car. Where was this promise made? As far as I know, VWoA hasn't officially promised anything publicly and replies from Customer Care have only had generalities like "in about a year" or (at best) "later this year."I believe that this first OTA update was promised for delivery during the summer of 2021, at least for US owners. The autumn equinox will be next Wednesday September 22, 9 days from now. VW will have failed to deliver on this commitment if our cars are not updated by then.
VW announced the summer 2021 OTA update in a press release in March, and they provided follow-up info to several car / EV media outlets. There are definitely some bugs with the software. For example these are some things that I have noticed:What is wrong with it - as someone who almost bought one yesterday until the dealer decided to add a bunch of crap like etching and permaplate - I would like to know.
Thank you!
it nowhere says that the US cars will get it before end of the summer. It specifically states the European cars would get it this summerVW announced the summer 2021 OTA update in a press release in March, and they provided follow-up info to several car / EV media outlets. Ah, I had missed that!it nowhere says that the US cars will get it before end of the summer. It specifically states the European cars would get it this summer
I quote:No. It says that European cars need to be taken in to VW workshops to get the 2.1 update before they can bet the OTA update. The early US cars had the 2.1 update installed at their ports of entry, so that did not apply to them.
