New photos of the upcoming ID.7 have leaked! What do you think?
I don't think people would like a Jetta replacement that cost $50KThe Passat replacement or the Jetta replacement. Plenty of people bought both just not me.

Or somewhere between the Arteon and Phaeton for that kind of money...I think it will be a Passat replacement.
I agree with you Enzeder. By the look at the prototype, it seems to be a larger Passat, due to the big battery ( for long range) The price is expensive, due to new tech and inflation. By the way, I just got the ID.4 pro S , MY23 about one week. I love it so far, that's why I look forward to electric sedan from VW. I hope they will offer the longer range, not too big and attractive. You may have to pay $50K to $60K nowadays for the car you really like.Or somewhere between the Arteon and Phaeton for that kind of money...
Even our high spec '22 Passat was ~$30k. Jumping to $50k would have put us in a different market/segment, or whatever its called.
If the ID.4 and ID.7 were both about the same price and had the same battery (and the ID.7 could tow) then I would prefer the ID.7. No brainer for me if it were a wagon.I agree with you Enzeder. I'm with you - I'd love an EV wagon! If the ID.4 and ID.7 were both about the same price and had the same battery (and the ID.7 could tow) then I would prefer the ID.7. No brainer for me if it were a wagon.
What I would like for my second EV is: first it is a sedan, with at least 370 - 400 mile range, and costs around $50K.If the ID.4 and ID.7 were both about the same price and had the same battery (and the ID.7 could tow) then I would prefer the ID.7. No brainer for me if it were a wagon.
I wouldn't be surprised if they managed to get well over 300 miles of range out of the ID.7 with the 77 kWh battery. Maybe even on Tom's 70 mph test.
The trick may be the proportions. For example, the IONIQ 5 is bigger in person than it appears in photos and has the drag to match. I wonder about the ID.7. They have to squeeze the battery under the cabin, so it doesn't seem possible they could make the ID.7 as sedan-y as the Passat other than its approximate profile, but I can dream...
The Passat is the Permanent Roommates daily driver, and I hope that when we eventually replace it, it will be with an EV. But she is a bit more range anxious than I so whatever EV we replace it with will have to have more range. The calculation is: 3 hours of highway driving, in winter (below 0°C), of usable battery (maybe 70% because she will never drive from 100% down to 1%). I would expect an EV with ~350 miles of nominal range might meet those needs.
