The ID.Buzz first drives have begun! Looks it's not just Spain that's getting them, it's the UK as well.
IDK - Maybe a 4 cylinder boxer engine with 27 HP?I’ve said it before on here: why is everyone so upset that it’s a minivan? What were they expecting?
You really think so? I've been waiting for this bus for like 10 years now and it's looking like a mini-van. I don't mind a mini-van, talked my wife into looking at a Pacifica even though we didn't end up buying one, but it seems to land more on that side of the spectrum than a classic air-cooled bus.
Mini-vans haven't been strong sellers in the US for decades so I'm not sure this will sell gang-busters like I thought a Type II.b was going to be.
And there you have it - a capsule summary of safety- and tech-induced price creep. Life used to be so simple... and a lot less safe. And then there was the every 2000-mile valve adjustment the old boxer engines required. DIY, great, paying somebody to do it, not so much. While the production model is much different than the prototype we saw for a few years it is still a winner. Whether or not people will pay $60-$70,000 is another story. If it comes in reasonably equipped at $55,000 it might be a huge hit. I am basing my opinion on the fact that in the last quarter of 2021 GM announced the average sales transaction was $56,000. That amount is WAAAY more than my practical, trendy, brand new 1965 green Beetle. Out the door new from Holbert's Garage VW @$1,965. Of course that is the equivalent of $17,391.93 today adjusted for inflation.
I think it'll be comfortably in the $75k price bracket. And there you have it - a capsule summary of safety- and tech-induced price creep. Life used to be so simple... and a lot less safe. My personal cutoff for the New Microbus will be that $55K you suggested. With others like Canoo - admittedly vaporware at this point - targeting $35-40K, if VW goes too much above $50K interest will wane even from the nostalgia contingent.
The old microbuses were also cheap. Even broke hippies could afford them. I paid $500 for my '67 model in 1974.IDK - Maybe a 4 cylinder boxer engine with 27 HP?
I always don't get the Frunk idea. Who would put anything valuable in that impact crush zone??OMG the frunk (or lack thereof)! I kinda love it because it's so clear why there's no space there.
With the ID.4 everyone complains that VW should have tried harder because even though the hood on the VW is way shorter than the Tesla 3/Y and Mach-E, it's hard to really see how much less overhang the VW has. With the Buzz, it's so clear.
Looks like just the angle.Looks like LWB and SWB versions to me...
How often do you use your frunk, if I may ask?Model Y is 7 inches longer than the ID4. Every bit matters in a garage. Personally I need all the space I can get for equipment for my wife's business. The buzz might get us a bit more space if we got one to replace our current ICE minivan.
Maybe a off road van.You really think so? I've been waiting for this bus for like 10 years now and it's looking like a mini-van. maybe a lot sacrifice to be safe, and lower the costYou really think so? I've been waiting for this bus for like 10 years now and it's looking like a mini-van. I hope they got bigger battery and more HP.I’ve said it before on here: why is everyone so upset that it’s a minivan? What were they expecting?
No, I'll definitely get a lightening for that price.I think it'll be comfortably in the $75k price bracket.
Rumor is 110kWh.I hope they got bigger battery and more HP.
Competition is the Mercedes EQV look up the price of those! No, I'll definitely get a lightening for that price.
I hope VW would lower the ID4 price and make room for the Buzz by then. Especially after they were make in the US.
Maybe in British, definitely not in the USCompetition is the Mercedes EQV look up the price of those!
That is surprisingly close to the current design - either they have not progressed much since 2001 or the 2001 design was epically ahead of its time!Ha! I've been waiting since 2001 when this was revealed... granted, it wasn't an EV at that time. EV makes it way more appealing, at least to me. View attachment 9228

Especially in the US, where you will most likely only get the 110kW-versionI think it'll be comfortably in the $75k price bracket.
In the US there is no competition so the price could be even higher!Maybe in British, definitely not in the US
