Hello,
We just got ID4 2023 Pro S AWD. I have a question-

We hang the key fob in the laundry room which is very close to the garage separated by a wall and a door. The problem is, every time we open the door, the car detects the key fob and wakes up. The lights on, climate starts running etc., draining the battery.

this happens multiple times during the day (we use that Door to exit the house through garage. Can anyone please recommend how to turn off the “wake up” mode?
We don’t want to relocate the key hanger to another room (keep it far away from the car to avoid this)
Any help is highly appreciated

Try shutting off Unlock When Approaching. Go to Vehicle, then Central Locking to set this. You will still be able to unlock the door by pulling on handle if you leave Keyless Access in the Active mode.

Thanks mrau for your suggestion. I already tried that but it didn’t help. With that it simply didn’t unlock the car when I walked closer with fob but it continued to wake up the car. hope there’s some way to do this so that our battery is not drained unnecessarily

Put your fob into a metal box or a faraday cage, that stops the radio signal that the car is watching for to wake up.
That’s a great idea.. thank you. Unfortunately, we are so used to hanging the keys on the hanger for years. Hope there is some solution on this. If not, we need to think about some alternatives that block the communication between the car and the key fob

My car does not do that. Might try to reboot the display. Press/Hold power button on display unit for a few seconds to do this.

If the required distance between Car and Keys is truly 30 feet, we're gonna have to squirrel away our fobs out in the woodshed. We live in a Hobbit burrow, not a McMansion.

If you don't move the key further away, not only will it keep waking up the car, but you'll find that the key fob batteries die every few months... I went through that with my first VW and learned the hard way.

Hello Mrau, I tried what you suggested and voila!! It worked!! The car doesn’t wake up when I open the garage door. It does wake up only when I take the key fob near it!! Thank you so much! Hope this setting remains and I don’t have to reset infotainment system again and again!! Thank you!!

From experience with a Tesla and this same issue....the vehicle remaining awake will stress and eventually drain the 12V battery also.

I use a faraday case when I leave the key in my Mach E. It’s hidden and even if someone breaks in the car won’t start.
I also have to use one when I have my ear buds with me if I drive to start a run. The headphones steal the signal for apply play. They work great and are cheap on Amazon
