QuantumScape, the US company that is working with Volkswagen to develop solid-state batteries for automotive applications, will be getting a lot more money from VW soon.
VW announced that it's tripling its investment in the company, which is looking to make batteries that are more energy-dense and can charge faster. That would mean that the ID.3, or whatever, would charge faster and go farther on that charge.
“We are making technological progress with our partner QuantumScape. The additional investment will effectively strengthen and accelerate our joint development work”, said Thomas Schmall, Chairman of the Board of Management of Volkswagen Group Components, the branch of VW that handles batteries.
