Volkswagen has revealed that they have opened up their first ID. store in Dresden, Germany. But instead of being dealerships or places to buy an ID car, they serve as information centres for customers.

VW states that visitors to the ID. Store in Dresden can get to know the new ID.3 in ‘virtual rooms’. After the planned pre-sales start from 17 June, the vehicles can also be configured there – but the sale itself will continue to be handled by the retail trade and the agency model introduced for this purpose.

“We have started with the launch of the ID. Stores, we are focusing primarily on locations with a high number of visitors, at which we will present the topic of e-mobility in an inspiring way for everyone,” says Holger Santel, Head of Sales & Marketing Germany at the Volkswagen Passenger Cars brand. “In this way we want to open up new customer groups and thus support the dealers.” In the future, online orders will also be possible, but VW has not yet announced a date for this.

It's a bit odd that you can't actually purchase an ID car at one of these stores but it is a good way for VW to spread the word about their electric lineup.
