Thought I'd throw this out there for everyone rabid for updates (myself included). The following was posted on another site yesterday. I checked the VW purchase page to verify this morning.

It appears that powertrain choice is indeed affecting sequencing of manufacture/ delivery. At least as of now. What we don't know is whether this affects orders already in the queue or only relates to new orders.

Regardless, the fact that they changed/ edited the parameters in ordering, and are still quoting 2021 Qtr 4 delivery on new orders of AWD Pro S Gradient is encouraging (if you happen to be in that group)

Thoughts?

I put my reservation in this week for the ID.4 AWD Pro S. I’ve got a 2019 eGolf on a lease until next September. Hoping to get the new car well before then, and pay out the lease & sell to Carvana and get enough for a down payment. My desire to get the ID.4 exceeds my need for it for now… Hoping the AWD is made in the USA, but can’t assume anything I guess!

My local dealer had mentioned in early August that I needed to goose my Pro-S order up to a gradient package. I did this and got an order lock that very same day. Haven't seen any movement on the production dial since then (9/9/2021). The dealer had a RWD which was refused available for immediate purchase. Still holding onto my AWD reservation and hoping the supply chain chaos sends me a car eventually. After purchasing an early Chevy Bolt(2017), I am happy to jump in early. I start reaping the benefits of EV ownership sooner. In 2026 I will probably jump into whatever is being produced then. This ID.4 replaces two of my cars: Chevy Bolt and Subaru Outback.
