VW removed blue color options? [just temporary during site updating]

Someone on FB pointed out that blue options for exterior and interior are mostly gone now as options. They weren't sure if that was a permanent change or not. (The original poster works at a VW dealership, I believe.) In short, Tourmaline only available on Standard and PRO RWD. No Arctic at all and no Cosmic interior at all.

( I checked vw.com and they were right.)

I have an Arctic/Cosmic AWD Pro S Plus reserved (not locked.) Wonder if that will still go through with that combo...

The change in color options sort of worries me. I have a blue AWD Pro S Plus reservation that hasn't locked yet. Also getting that error message and noticed the absence of colors on the web site.

It doesn't seem to make any sense that the lower priced cars get more color options than then the more expensive ones.

That has always been the situation in Europe. GTX (our AWD) has always had less options. I think it's Moonstone Grey as default, four other options and Kings Red.

For example the Vomit Yellow was never an option for GTX. Nor was the dark blue one.

Tourmaline AWD Pro S Plus reserved (8/5) but not locked here. While I typically prefer lighter interiors, I’m not a fan of the White/blue combo and would be happy if they offered the dark gray with the tourmaline. Really not into the other exterior colors though so not looking forward to a change.

Hopefully we’ll hear something definitive soon.

I locked last week with a Pro S Plus, and the confirmation indicates Arctic Blue Metallic with Cosmic/Blue interior. While nothing is impossible, I suspect that the disappearance of exterior and interior options is an error on VW's order site, and not a decision to eliminate these options. At the moment, the reservation confirmation site is down for most or all of us, so the good folks who run VW's web presence seem to have a few bugs to work out.

On the other hand, the disappearance of the premium sound upgrade for the Pro S Plus appears to me to be intentional. I'm just guessing, like the rest of us. VW's order site states explicitly, "We’re sorry, availability of some equipment, options or features may be limited due to global supply issues affecting the auto industry. Please continue to build your vehicle here and request a quote but be sure to verify that the vehicle you purchase includes all expected features and equipment."

So, absent more guidance from VW, we're just going to have to wait and see.

No premium sound is really disappointing, it is likely due to supply chain issues, that's a trend these days.. delays, more delays, and now features dropping.. can't get any better with VW!

I think we don't know for sure about this feature dropping. There's an indication in a different thread that this option has been dropped from the models being sold in Canada, but the U.S. might be different. Then again ... we knew nothing about what VW was thinking about in terms of premium sound. If the sound upgrade was to drop a suitcase-size subwoofer into the trunk ... well, I might prefer to have that space available for cargo.

And look, I'm not a sound engineer. But I don't imagine the inside of a moving automobile as a good place to experience music. There's too much ambient noise, plus glass is not a desired element in a music listening environment. Sure, better sound is ... better. But premium sound played in a car is never going to be anywhere near as good as a concert hall, or even a living room. I'm really ok with a mediocre sound system in a mediocre listening environment like the driver's seat of an SUV.
