In Washington, the purchase and install of an EVSE (charger) is exempt from sales tax. If you've already made a purchase or your retailer or installer isn't setup to handle your exemption, you can request a refund using this form:

Hey, thank you very much! I didn't know about this sales tax exemption and even reading the forms it appeared to me like it didn't apply to residential EV charger purchase and installations. But I called the WA Dept. of Revenue and asked them and it does. So I'm sending them my request for a refund of the sales tax I paid for the charger and garage wiring costs. Your message should save me $234!
