So my dealer was unfamiliar with the more obscure aspects of the ID4. Based on a tip in this forum, I asked to see the charger manual unlock button--it is located inside the cargo area under a fabric flap. Apparently the factory scores most but not all of the flap. My dealer confidently said, "Oh you're meant to rip this open." Made sense, since you might be on the road when you first had to access it. Anyway, you can see where this is going. Not a big deal, a minor cosmetic thing of frayed fabric, but just taking a small blade to cut it open the first time would be a wiser choice!

Basically on the "back" of the charging port, which makes sense.

So at the exact moment when the video should show how to pull on the cable, the camera switches to showing the charger hande, where nothing visibly happens.

I agree in principle that we should all cut the remaining "dotted line" of the right-rear interior fender "felt" lining leading to that emergency plug disconnect before we have a need to actually use it. But I just hate to cut into my ID.4. 🤷‍♂️ However I do have both a folding knife and a Leatherman w/blade near at hand in the vehicle, just in case.

Goes without saying but pulling that cable should be a last resort, after unlocking several times via keyfob and "stop charging" from the screen fails. I think others on this board have mentioned if you pull too hard you can break the cable.
Also, there are two pull cables behind that flap. The one without a tag is the charge port release. The other one has a tag, and pulling it blows a fuse to the high-voltage battery and your car ain't moving until it's serviced.

I always have a lockblade knife in the truck in my years of road construction I saw many wrecks and cars that were on fire afterwards. Including one who didn’t make it. So I have a rescue knife that can cut seat belts and break windows.
