It's been remarkable to see how the community has grown and all the discussion and excitement around the ID.4 and the rest of Volkswagen's ID lineup.

The more VW fans the better!

Joined a little over a month ago because I was interested in the VW ID4. Have since ordered one. I am a retired auto tech and have an interest in all things automotive, especially EVs. Hoping to gain knowledge and impart my 40+ years of experience.

I joined after reading a comment on insideevs about the forum existing. I really like being able to talk to others about the car (good and bad), as well as just be a part of this society.

I joined about 3 weeks ago after my wife and I test drove a car in Florida. I also ordered a Pro s the same day. A few days later we went to our delivery dealer in NY to introduce ourselves. He had a FE that someone ordered and could not get financing for so we scooped it up!! We could not be happier with the car!!

This happened way too quickly. The ID.4 wasn't even on our radar. The Polestar 2 lured us in as a replacement for my wife's Volvo S60. After she drove it, we both really liked it, but also found it lacking in some very practical ways. We were both slow to move, so it clearly wasn't the right car.

Somewhere I heard about the ID.4 showing up. I popped in to VW to put eyes on one on March 19th. She test drove it the next day and was enthusiastic about it, and I joined the forum. I put my feelers out. We bought one ten days later.

I joined because I've been thinking of replacing my Mk7.5 GTI with an ID.4. Plus, theres a bunch of small little quriky things Volkswagen does, I don't mind helping people understand some of the nuances of owning a Volkswagen. In actuality, I've been wanting to go with an EV for a while now. I've just been wrapped up in grad school, and tuition has been bleeding me dry. However, I do graduate this year which frees up money for more fun car things, and the more I watch and look into the ID.4 the more I'm liking it. I'm planning to go give the ID.4 a test drive next week after exams wrap up for the semester. Right now my top two picks is either the ID.4 or the Model 3 LR. The biggest con for me with the Model 3 is I feel like I'm playing the build quality lottery on a nearly 50k car, and I've had a similar disappointing build quality experience with my similarly priced Ford Mustang. My Volkswagen? It was perfect from the factory, and nothing was broken from the factory either.

After watching that interview with Dustin from Out of Spec motoring, it made me really want to stay with VW, even though I really don't want/need a SUV. Overall, I love my Volkswagen and the brand so I wouldn't mind buying another Volkswagen.

However, I do wish we got the ID.3 here in the US as an option. I love my little hot hatch, and I can see why the Golf is so prolific in Europe. It just does everything so well overall. To me the ID.3 with its RWD and Instant EV torque sounds like a fun recipe for an EV hot hatch, an actual GTE of sorts without the ICE component.
