Went to my local EA yesterday. After plugging in the car I went to the EA app to initiate charging, but it said all the stalls were unavailable and greyed out. After car did it's initial handshake, it started charging right away with no payment. At first I thought maybe they enabled plug 'n charge but after charging was complete, got this msg on the charger's display:

"Due to a network issue, your price cannot be shown at this time. When available, session details will be posted to your account."

EA app hasn't registered any charging session from yesterday. Since I never swiped to charge I wonder if they can even tell what EA account if any was tied to the charging session.

happened to me last Wed as well at an EA. Added 28kW & it does not show on my charge history. App crashed upon initializing connection to my car, session started. App had the circle initializing charge on my phone & the app crashed. Car kept charging.

EA has been such a hit or miss for me. Rarely when they offer complimentary charging, it's plug and play, so great. But when I have to initiate via the mobile app, it fails at least 1 out of 4 times I'd visit the station. Last time, out of 10 stations or so, I've tried 3, couldn't get it to work. Called EA, they said it should work, and I was on hold for +20 min to "manually start" charging and when I've spent 30 min total without a single bit of electricity, I decided to leave.

We also own a Tesla and the superchargers have been great & seamless in the past 3 years. I hope plug and charge would be enabled soon.

I noticed that alot of stations were grayed out around my area. Seems to be okay today.

When I was charging on the 7kwh charger over the weekend, it took me about 3-4 attempts for a successful charge. The station would always tell me to disconnect and reconnect or call the support line as there was an error, while the app remains in initializing charge but no action. Eventually, it charged and I had to close out the app and reopen for it to say charging.

FWIW, I had a charging issue with EA last week. My issue was slightly different - the handshake failed. Apparently the preferred way to start charging isn't what I'd been doing. My approach was to plug the car in and then tap the phone where indicated on the box. EA's tech help said that instead I should open the EA app, find the charger station on the map, open the location, find the charger number and tap it on my phone to begin the hook-up. Then plug in the car and begin charging. To quote the tech, "A much more reliable way to charge". Okay. See if that works.

yep, I've only been doing that mobile app method but honestly, it's a such a pain when the handshake fails and the stall hangs, and I have to close and reopen the app, find the location on the map, check which station it is, swipe, and when that fails multiple times, it's very frustrating. VW said plug and charge should be enabled in the future so I'm hoping it'll be better down the road!
