So I am looking to join the club and pick up an ID.4. I am thinking either a 1st edition or Pro S ( I do not see many gradients available)
If you bought one recently, can you post the trim and price so I can have an idea what to negotiate for? Detailed breakdowns would be amazing.

Also, if any of you used Costco auto - that is available to me ( I do not know if their rate would be cheaper...)

MSRP, $41,949 for the ID.4 Pro RWD because it included junk (safety kit, ev charger case, rubber mats, cargo blocks, etc.), homelink mirror, and cargo net.

1st Edition, MSRP + $227 for some slap-dash applied decals which will ensure I get my rear passenger door back if somebody steals the car and parts it out as Tex-Mex restaurant wall decor on Etsy, and of course $85 doc fee to pay the office secretary to type up the sales and finance contracts in triplicate, file one set, and fax another to... or, wait, they're all electronic and they handed them to me in a PDF file on a USB stick. Well, I now own an $85 USB stick. But yeah, I had the privilege of paying MSRP and not the other dealers' 3k to 5k markups. Woo-Hoo, lucky me.

It’s a bit complicated but, I paid slightly below MSRP at $44,999 for my Pro S. The dealer helped me bring the price under $45k so that I would qualify for WA state EV sales tax incentives (which, combined with the trade in sales tax incentive meant I only paid $500 in sales tax). They did that by taking some of the equity from my trade in and using it to lower MSRP. They were great to work with

My dealer dropped the price of my Pro S to $45,000 so I could qualify to get the first $25,000 sales tax free. He bumped the price of the documentation fee and added gap insurance to make up most of the cost which was perfectly fine with me.

I paid MSRP on my Pro S, no markups, no silly safety kits or floor mats or other added overpriced junk. Dealer prepared all documents online, I signed most things electronically, they delivered the car to my house where we signed the last docs and the guy showed me the most important features and helped me set up VW Car Net and Electrify America. Smoothest car buying process ever.

I paid $150 in doc fees.

I paid straight MSRP for my Pro S, but I had a reservation for the car. My doc fees were an additional $200.

The same car, non-reserved, on their lot was marked up an additional $1,500. Some dealers in town had even greater mark-ups (generally overpriced add-ons like paint protection, floor mats, etc.)

California is capped at $85. Texas $150. I was shopping cars in Florida, Virginia, and Maryland recently and the $600 to $1,000 doc fees I was seeing were rage-inducing. I don't get it — it's so easy to travel to a neighboring state on the east coast to get a better deal.
