I saw this tray in a YouTube video and there was a tool in the missing spot in my car's tray. Anyone know what it is and what it's for? Either the FE and the Pro S use some tool that the Pro models don't or my dealer shorted me that piece. I'd like to find out what it is in case I need them to get me one. Thanks guys!

I believe that for is the lug bolt alignment tool, although the cutout looks more screwdriver shaped. (IIRC my Audi's tire change kit included a swappable-tip screwdriver.)

Whoa!

Just watched this!

So are VW wheels made so that bolts go in versus having lug nuts stick out that the wheel slides on and you bolt down? If so, the tool is very necessary! Are NA/ US vehicles supposed to have this?

Ifnot, does anyone have the VW part number so we can order one that fits in this kit?

Yessir! The tool is nice to have, though not necessary. You can see the ID.4 with threaded holes, no lugs here:

A few observations:
[1] While the video features a M12 x 1.5 tool, our VW uses a M14 x 1.5
[2] the actual VW part isn't really required, so long as you purchase the proper dimensions (see [1])
[3]while Nai3t links to a plastic wheel hanger, I favor a metal tool. Here's the steel guide I purchased: https://www.amazon.com/Black-Steel-...d1afb&pd_rd_wg=cNzId&pd_rd_i=B07V1Z5V9Z&psc=1
Amazon also sells a set of 2 aluminum guides for about the same total price, but I prefer steel.

Yup - VW has used lug bolts rather than studs with nuts for . . . . many years - The '50's & '60's Beetles used bolts

I don't think that's what the cutout in my tray is meant for though. The tool I saw in the video didn't look like that . . . . but, I do need to get me one of those too. Bolts are hard enough with a small wheel and tire like my old GTI had - I can imagine trying to wrestle one of these monsters on there without something to hang it on

I believe that you are missing a screwdriver. Same thing happened to me when I picked up my 1st Edition. Fortunately, I noticed it before I left the dealership and they came up with a replacement right away. In addition I did get a VW tire repair kit with my ID4. It kind of concerns me to think about using something like that. I understand that the repair goo wrecks the tire. I'll just be calling VW Roadside Assistance. I've included pics of the my tool kit and the included tire repair kit.

It's in the bottom compartment where the charge cord and other goodies are stored - Velcroed to the bottom so it won't ever move around and rattle

Years a go all VWs came with the reversible screw driver. They probably don't include those for the US market, since it is not required, to save a few $. They are also not required to supply an emergency triangle for the US market so......

As others have mentioned that slot is for a reversible screwdriver. I didn't get it either.

But it made a handy slot for my small ratchet/sockets for potential 12V battery removal, et al, needs. I store a better multi-bit ratcheting tool, pliers, etc. in my emergency bag anyway.

So to be clear - are US Id.4s supposed to have this reversible screwdriver or not?

I am about to have an ID.4 shipped in.

I can have them check for it and make sure one is there, but I need to know if it is supposed to be there on US ID.4s before I do.

Can any US owners confirm that their kits came with this please? If it makes a difference, I am getting a Pro S.

Thank you!

Every car I've bought in the last 20 years has come with a crappy reversible screwdriver. My A4 has a set of bits that fit the handle including one very long torx bit that must have a specific application. I can't imagine any owner has ever used it for that but there you go.

Seems to be excessive cost cutting to delete a $1 screwdriver...

A couple USA folks here have insisted on receiving the reversible screwdriver upon delivery and sales folk have 'appropriated' one from elsewhere. No one in USA got it as part of delivery prep tho' as far as I know.
