What bugs my wife is I, as a user, am referred to by name and she is "other"
The car picks up the name displayed from the MyVW app for that specific account . Can check name in App by selecting Person Icon (bottom right) to get to Account page, then Profile, then Full Name. Edit from there if needed.

I will need to retry. She can see the vehicle in the app on her phone, but apparently the car doesn't see her. I will try to log her in again on the car.
Also, I would prefer my name to just be "first name " not "first name" + initial of last name. I tried to edit my profile but it won't allow me to leave last name blank.

We do not use profiles and rather use the car like any car before. We pair our phones through Bluetooth and have seats set using the memory. That's it. Everything else is 'shared' like it is already everywhere else in our live :)

My wife and I are in a similar situation as you. We both drive the car but she drives it more often than I do. We never set up profiles though. We have our seat positions saved and don't really care about the ambient light colors changing. I do wish that the seat positions were tied to the keys like in my CRV though. I'm a foot taller than my wife and it is so nice when my CRV just automatically adjusts the driver's seat back to me when I unlock it.

This is true. One person posted a work-a-round they did. Example: If name is Sparky Jones it displays as SparkyJ. They changed first name to Spark and the last name to just "y". Display changed to Sparky.

Not sure of any ill effects this might have in other places in the app.

A glimmer of hope though. Knowledgable folks (with a good track record) on this forum have said that profiles will be linked with a key fob in a future update. Then no need for on-screen confirmation check. So it looks like the "un-check" is in the mail. :)
Some of these things should have been ironed out before the car was sold to the first customer . . . . but they obviously weren't. So, why after more than 18 months have they still not been taken care of? Who knows, but if you can't do the simple stuff, it makes us all wonder if any of the important stuff will EVER get done. Shame on you VW - Many of these issues go waaaay back to cars you've been selling for years, but because we bought EV's and you obviously cant do software, we're still stuck in the 1990's

[Rant off]

Can you help describe how to do this as I am the only driver and it's hit or miss for me the seat adjusts back to my preferred setting (1) usually I have press 1 manually to adjust the seat.
Thanks
Could be easy entry bug like the other user mentioned. For me (I don't have 3.1 yet), when I get out of the car my leg hits the seat adjustment dials just a little bit. After a few drives I notice the seat is out of place and use the memory button to put it back.

Thank GOD if that's true. This is one of the couple things I really get annoyed with, clicking my user name EVERY SINGLE TIME I have to start the screen. Absolutely frustrating when you have two key fobs that can identify each driver. Let's hope they do change this.

Is there a way to stop asking for it each time the car starts? I am the only one that drives mine. I deleted my profile and was just going to use guest but when I did that it removed the vehicle from my VW app. I add it back to the app and I am the user once again and have to click it each time. Very annoying. Being a Pro and not an S it wouldn't help me anyways with my seat position.
Question is... how useful is the MyVW app? About the only think I use it for is to the SOC:rolleyes:. Let's see what the next SW update brings.

Would absolutely love to see fob set user profile, seat, etc. I disabled the easy entry thing, all that does is crush my kids feet in the carseat behind me. I have had it randomly move on me a few times though, then I go into the settings and my seat is turned back on for easy entry. Weird.

App is pretty terrible, but it does have some functionality... just lack of reliability/prompt response. My primary use for it is to preheat the cabin before going out on trips that aren't in my scheduled climate settings. Not always, but often when leaving somewhere with my kids especially, I'll warm it up a bit as its best not to have kids wear coats in carseats, so like to have the car warm for them especially (but I like my scheduled departure pre-heating a lot too). I sometimes check SOC, but not too often. I'd check that its locked, but my app almost always says its unlocked, so I just ignore that part.

I wish I knew of the warnings of setting up a profile. It was fine as a guest. But, I was sitting in the car and played with setting up a profile. Even though I am the only driver. What a mistake. I have to hit confirm each time. I deleted the user and then when setting up the Car-Net it shows up again. Chatted with VW and they are still looking into it and will email me. Still waiting.

So something new happened this morning. I'm using the Guest profile, even though the Primary Driver profile still exists, so I have to click through a message alerting me that the Primary Driver will know where I'm going etc.

Normally I click through this message as soon as it pops up. This morning as my finger was an inch away from pressing the OK button, I noticed the warning message was longer than usual. The text "V2X" stuck out. But I hit the OK button before I could stop and read the message. Since then I haven't been able to get it to appear again.

Anyone seen a message like that with "V2X" in the text?

In the old days, you would suspect your kids first. LOL.
Lol is right. It's gotta be 40 years later and I still remember the stink my mom made because I moved her precious rear view mirror. You'd think she used lasers and a sextant to align it.

Because it's but one grain of sand in a software hourglass whose neck is plugged up.

... Like how in 2.1 "Auto Hold" and scheduled charging were sloppily left in but not working, but a sage sign of features to come in later releases. Hopefully. Because in 2.1 we also have the (non-working) option to connect the vehicle to home WiFi, and that's disappeared from 3.x. I'm hopeful.

I use the guest profile and have seen this message. It comes on when I don't immediately press OK to the first disclaimer and let app-connect connect Android Auto to the head unit. It is another silly disclaimer about allowing data to pass between the car and the phone to the cloud (in this case Google). At least you don't have to push OK twice!

I got my last initial to go away by adding a space before my last name in the MyVW app. It appears it takes the first character of the last name and doesn't check what that character is or isn't.

My wife and I both drive our 2023 ID.4. So when I first got the car I set up a profile for myself, and paired my phone.

When she started driving it, I made her install the myVW app on her phone, make an account, add it to the car and then pair her phone. I was expecting that my profile -> my phone, her profile ->her phone. It seems to not work that way though. I pick my profile and we're both in the car and her phone connects and vice versa.

If we need to manually be going and picking phones every time we're both in the car what is the point of the profiles? The only thing I can tell is any different is the color scheme for the car. We don't get radio presets, our keys don't automatically pick profiles.

Is there something I'm missing? I'm wondering if maybe we should just delete the second profile to (hopefully) not be prompted every single time we drive which profile to use.
The only thing useful about profiles is that my wife has a different ambient color scheme than mine. When I see hers, it reminds me I have to press the seat memory 2 button to move it back so I can successfully get into the car.

This is one area of the ID.4 that I think is very primitive. Our old 2014 Honda had seat memory that automatically moved to setting of the individual fob it saw on the drivers side. I stepped back in time with the ID.4 user profiles that do nothing other than store ambient colors.

My man! Thank you for this brilliant work around, it worked for me too!
