What's the deal with these incised/raised letters?

One odd thing about our ID.4s that caught my eye that has me scratching my head: why are there incised/raised letters on the front decorative LEDs? I don't see similar lettering anywhere else on the vehicle. Curious minds want to know.

With a bit of 320, 600, 1000, 2000, and 3000 grit wet sanding it took me all of 15 minutes to remove those ungainly codes. Obviously this is likely verboten in the EU, but I seriously doubt anyone here in the USA will care. YMMV.

The marks matter for the manufacturing process as there are probably regulations that are enforced in various countries to verify the light that emitted does not interfere with on coming drivers. The CCC mark for example is required in China to verify the assembly is made from safety approved material similar to a U.S. UL Recognition Mark. The marks are required for the factory to pass their annual or semi annual audits.

Similar marks are on all the glass on the car as well. The glass marks are way more noticeable than the marks on the front light strip in my opinion. I assume you removed the warning label from the drivers door window as well.
