A lot of discussion of ID.4 software version from 2.1, 2.2 to 2.3. The car appears not to show anything that resembles these software versions numbers. What is shown is software version 0792 in "Settings" under "System Information". Does 0792 somehow correlate to 2.1? If so, what will 2.3 correlate to?

Yes, 0792 equates to V2.1 which we presume is what was loaded at USA ports in the early March timeframe and part of the reason FE delivery in particular was delayed.

We're not sure in the USA what will correspond to V2.3 (at least I'm not) but if you hereafter see something other than 0792 ...

Thanks for the information on software updates.

Issues I'm experiencing are delayed location charging not working, Internet Radio not functioning and occasional Infotainment Screen glitch of being upside down, reversed and distorted.

Resetting the Infotainment Screen clears the problem up until the next time it occurs. Internet radio never plays a selected radio stream. Shows selected stream in constant download mode. Immediate charging works ok both level 2 and DC Fast charging.

"Scheduled charging" isn't working for anyone under V2.1. Hopefully V2.3 resolves.

Correct, no issues with "charge immediately to 50%."

I've not had an inverted screen and don't use 'net radio so can't comment on those.

Honestly haven't tested DC charging yet (excellent 11.5KW charger at home), but a lot of guys here have 2.3 now and nobody has seen any difference yet.

I have my FE in for the 5000 mile service and some other warranty work, no real big issues. My wife caught a curb and scuffed the wheel, we have the tire and wheel warranty so it is being replaced under that, a small rattle from the the dash vent by the windshield, something I am sure felt tape will fix. Anyway, I asked them if they could get the 2.3 updates from Volkswagen, they said they would call to see if they could get it in the US yet, if so they would see that it was installed 🤞. From what I have read it’s still only available OTA in the EU.

It’s not even general available yet in the EU only for a select few volunteers, and people that just bought a brand new car.

The below YouTube video link describes the European software update roll-out as of July 1, 2021 for both the VW ID.3 and ID.4. He appears to indicate the the software update will only occur via 4G and not WiFi. Download progress will be impacted by strength of the 4G signal. 4G signal strength is a garage can be weak while house WiFi in a garage can be strong and have a fast download speed. This appears to be a disadvantage.

WeConnect ID is required there. I assume enrollment in Car-Net is required here in North America. Will the 4G software update still occur without a Verizon wireless subscription?

In that screen it will shows it once you are on
2.3 or higher. For now the 0792 version is what gives it away. Infotainment version 0792 is used with software version 2.1 for RWD and 2.2 for AWD

I noticed on the up coming iD.5 that has software 3.0 that the hardware is H21 instead of H20 in the iD.4.
Wonder what difference the hardware specs between the two models.

Only difference so far was a newer navigation database that I can see.

Took my 2021 ID.4 Pro S AWD in for 10,000 mile service yesterday. Colorado's largest VW dealer and far more ID.4's sold than any other. Naturally, I asked the service manager whether 3.0 is now available for install. She said no, and that, when it does come it will be in the form of a recall. Owners will get a notice in the mail. VW has given the dealership no idea when this might happen. I look forward to this upgrade like we all do, but I am not holding my breath.

People in Europe booking for 2.4 - a prequisite for 3.0 OTA - are now getting dates in November. Meanwhile 3.0 OTA is out in Germany for select few, who opted in when offered. Nowhere else.

I'm betting that it doesn't come to the US before a) they've tested and ironed out the issues with 2.4 and 3.0 this side, b) have sufficient numbers of technicians trained, c) secured enough new 12V batteries (all 12V are replaced in Europe with 2.4).

That's a big ask and it's the end of August.
