Wiper Service - Will "opened" wiper blades hit hood if restored?

I searched and read the manual and could not find an answer.

When cleaning the windshield, I use the Service setting and fold the blades off of the glass, clean the glass, and then the rubber parts of the blades. I would like to leave the blades off the glass and rotate the blades to the non-service position before flipping them down on the glass. I assume the system is designed to allow that sequence and yet I do not want to risk damage.

Have you rotated out of the Service position with the blades rotated off of the glass?

I wouldn't recommend trying it as they will most likely hit the hood if there isn't a failsafe or they hit the hood then come slamming down on the windshield. Why do you want to have them reset before folding them back down?

Thank you LongRoof.

When leaving the car out when it may snow, to keep the blades from freezing to the glass, flipping them up helps. I wanted to know if the "Service" mode is canceled when flipped up, no damage would result.

No big deal, just wanted experienced advice.

Much appreciated!
