1...provided a PDF copy of the manual to all those who have locked in their reservations so that we can read up on the car BEFORE we actually get it. After all, we have shown our good faith by depositing $500 with them.

Many of us have never owned an EV before and it would help us feel comfortable when we first drive it.

4...gave us an all-black interior option.

The brown-black option is a "love it or hate it" choice and I, personally, hate it.
Same. This actually prevented me from getting a Moonstone Gray Pro S my dealer has on hand. Love the exterior, couldn't love the interior enough to pull the trigger on it.

Agree that it would be nice if they just sent us a copy but the internet (and vwidtalk community) wins here. Hope this helps?

I actually have a Moonstone Gray Pro S and would definitely have opted for all black if given the choice. In fact, I wish I could have a moonstone Gray ID4 with a black interior dash and the gray seats...That said, the brown isn't as bad as I thought it would look and my wife actually likes it a lot. All our other cars have all black interiors so in her mind its a nice change of pace I guess.

I was nervous based on the photos, but I liked the brown once I I saw it in person. I definitely see how it could be polarizing.

I have grown to be okay with it while I look at more photos and reviews. I have a Lunar Gray interior on reserve, but if a Pro S (with or without gradient) comes available near me I will pounce and cancel my reservation. I am okay enough with any color I think (On second thought, except maybe the red with gradient package, I don't think I am a fan of the red, silver and black mix. Nothing bad, just not my choice.)

Many of those nice to have things are what go away when a manufacturer sets a desired price point and then starts looking at things that won't be missed all that much if it helps them meet that price. 4 basic exterior colors with only 2 interior choices (often dictated by the exterior color, so there's really no choice) isn't that unusual on many cars where the manufacturer is trying hard to save a buck - $39,995 attracts lots more buyers than $41,995

Some people are turned off by this and won't buy, but for the foreseeable future, they can't make them fast enough to meet the needs of those who really want one . . . . and many of us are buying because of value for the buck, so it looks like they knew what they were doing

Yup, Tough to tell a company they need to do things different when they are selling everything they are making.

While I understand what you are saying, I’m not sure it applies to the majority of the items listed above. For example, sending a PDF of the manual when you hit a certain stage on the progress wheel would cost them nothing. Offering an all black interior option would probably result in additional viable options for the marginal buyer, at least based on the responses here, which suggest that some of us at best weren’t fond of the brown/black combo but dealt with it or at worst turned buyers away? I’m assuming that all black is likely less polarizing than the brown black combo but nothing more than an assumption. As for exterior color options, that might cost them a bit more if US cars are painted on a different line than European cars, since the paint options already exist for European cars, but I really don’t know how the paint production works.

That said, i definitely agree that they don’t really have to listen to us since they are selling out of these faster than they can produce them right now.

From pictures I didn't like the brown either, but once I test drove one with it.... love at first "in-person" sight. I'm not sure why, but I think the stitching on the dash, is one of the reasons. Feels more... welcoming... warm... homely... compared to the "cold" grey dash... but this is subjective of course... 😁
