I have just been informed by my friend who is working in San Diego that he is offloading id4s in the San Diego port off the Glovis Summit. This is the ship that many people did not expect would be carrying the cars. There is hope for some of us to get our cars hopefully quicker.

Hope is a good thing. Before you posted this news I had set my expectations to May 10.

That's a fascinating development! Vessel Finder shows it travelled Emden, Brunswick, MD, and trans-canal to San Diego.

  • First Panama Canal transit
  • First known stop in Brunswick vs. Baltimore

This is good news! On another thread here someone said he lives in San Diego area and his car came out of Houston. I live in SF area so I suppose my car could be on that boat.

Initially all FEs were sent to Houston and then trucked. I assume VW had justification. The first bunch of ID.4s needed their software updated to the current version; perhaps Houston was chosen for their ability to store vehicles and perform this task? Now that production is flowing perhaps this stopover is no longer necessary.

Mine didn't, but the Glovis Summit is now headed for Benicia (San Francisco), so maybe tomorrow.
Ditto on mine, plus my dealer thought my Pro might be in by the end of the month.
Always thought Benicia would be Port of Entry for Bay Area, but some cars delivered to southern Ca seem to have come via land from Houston per this site.
In any case, maybe we'll start seeing ID.4s on the road soon.

That would be Brunswick, GA, which is a vehicle port.

Brunswick, MD is on the Potomac but not navigable from the Atlantic (unless they significantly expand the C&O Canal!).

My EV specialist at dealer told me "All our cars come through Baltimore." I finally got the Monroney sticker and my ProS was offloaded in Jacksonville.
