I received the OpenEVSE board for my Juicebox charger a couple days ago and installed it today. It was reasonably easy to do but the instructions are pretty spotty. Got it plugged back in, joined it to my WIFI and perused the menu before I ran out of time. It looks like the scheduling and logging are local now so that's a good thing. There's an analytics site you can connect to but I wasn't able to get that working. More later after I have charged a few times. It will be great to have reliable logging again.

Basically there are 3 parts to setting up the OpenEVSE board in the V2 Juicebox

1) Install the OpenEVSE board: https://openevse.dozuki.com/Guide/Replace+Controller+in+Juicebox+v2/53?lang=en
2) Join the OpenEVSE board to WIFI and perform basic setup: https://openevse.dozuki.com/Guide/Quick+Start+Guide/31
3) Connect to Pulse Energy for Analytics: https://openevse.dozuki.com/Guide/OCPP+Setup+Pulse+Energy/51

The only way to access OpenEVSE is through a webpage that runs on the Juicebox, which is available on your local WIFI network. No App, no remote access.

The OpenEVSE shows some very basic charging info. Below it shows the 8.2 KW charging session ending at 12:42am from overnight. Why the .1 KW lines and the one at 7:40am? No idea.

I just finished the Pulse Energy setup today. More on that later.

After some poking around I was able to get Pulse energy analytics working. It does display some graphs based on the data that the OpenEVSE board is sending. It's mostly designed to log charger sessions and revenue but it looks like it may make my data collection easier. And it's free, which helps. The "Energy Delivered" graph is what I'll be interested in, and you can specify a custom range, so that's what I'll be trying in a month or so.

I'm now 2 years and 5 months and 43700 miles into ID.4 ownership. Now that I don't have to commute 100 miles to work 3 days a week I may be able to make it 3 years before my warranty goes away.

OpenEVSE and Pulse Energy are working well to track my usage.

I have put 44500 miles on after 2.5 years. My ID.4 is great! During this heatwave I have been using the remotely actuated AC. I have been stressing it out lately, hauling 600lb loads of bricks for my patio rehab project. Max load is supposed to be about 880 lbs. 2 more loads to go.

At 2 years and 8 months old, my ID.4 has 46,000 miles in the odometer. The car did great through all the extreme heat this summer. I'm happy bug season will be over soon. Long term stats show 3.1 mi/kWh average. It's odd that this screen shows 46776 miles, the app says 46089 and the binnacle says 46080. Probably due to kmh to mph rounding errors differences. Dang programmers...

My wife's ID4 has ~42kmi, at 2yr and 9mo old. Fantastic commuter for her and a family vehicle for us, the back seat is great for our full size human sons when they go places with us.

No issues, just charge and drive it.

She commutes 100mi a day during the school year (college instructor), which is normally 2-3days a week but is 5days a week this semester. She'll be pilling on the miles just before the car turns three.

My car is 2 years, 9 months old, with 46,700 miles on it. While I'm not driving nearly as much now, I still don't think I'll make it to 4 years before I hit 50,000 miles and the full warranty ends.

One quirk it's had from the beginning was that when my wife gets into the car, the seat is frequently tilted back further than when she left it. I took it in to have VW look at it and they of course found nothing. After almost 3 years of this, today I watched her get out of the car and sure enough, her leg hits the seat adjust lever on the way out and the seat moves. I guess I can't blame that on the car anymore!

Speaking of weird things to blame on the car, here's a new one for me. I was driving on a rural highway with light traffic in both directions and a slower car in front of me. I was coasting in D mode to slow down and the car apparently didn't think I was slowing fast enough because it went BAM and slammed on the brakes, just for a second. The dash lit up all red too, just for a second and then it was like it never happened.

I also very much appreciate the light bar across the bottom of the windshield that turns red when approaching a stopped or quickly slowing vehicle in front of me. It has saved me more than once when my attention was not as focused as it should have been.
Still going strong at almost five years with no significant problems.

That red bar appears to come on when the cruse control shifts from regenerative breaking to the act brakes. It should signal a panic stop that requires evasive action from the driver but it just seems to warn of disk brake use.

My experience with the red bar is more than just a change from one breaking mode to another. It comes on when I am too close and approaching too fast to the vehicle in front of me, basically telling me to apply the brakes with more force. This is not with the cruise control on.
