Perhaps, seems this has been effective about 50% in recent threads. I just know if I'm going to tolerate an hour on the phone with VW with no resolution, doing this reset is certainly less painless and absolutely can't hurt. I spun my wheels much longer including multi-day dealership visits before I tried resetting which got it back up and running.

Did you have this exact login issue and fix it with a reset? Or did you use a reset to fix something else?

I suggest the full Monty

• Remove vehicle from app
• Reset to factory in car
• When you get to the qr code hit the info button and ask them to pair car to the app for you

This will probably solve your problem with two added bonuses, it won’t have the annoying user select at startup and it won’t ask you to re-log back in every couple of weeks. All other functionality works on mine. YMMV

I’m lazy… so I’d like to see confirmation from someone who says this same error that a factory reset fixes it
