Always-on Power in Overhead Console

I’m about to wire my dashcam. I want it to record even when I’m parked so I was planning to wire it to the fuse box but I’m having second thoughts. I really don’t want to be taking the A-pillar trim off and pulling on the headliner so I’m hoping someone can share the disassembly procedure for the overhead console.

The next step will be probing all the connectors up there for always-on 12V. If anyone happens to know of any modules up there that stay powered even when the car goes into deep sleep, please share. I’m not sure there will be anything still powered up but it’s worth a shot.

So I downloaded all of the PDF wiring diagrams for future reference but my goodness iWire is awesome. It is a digital wiring diagram of all of the electrical systems in the car with the ability to search for modules or terminals. WX1 is the Front Interior Lamp and the diagram very clearly shows that it is fed by fuse SC44. You can click on SC44 and see all of the other items that are fed by that same fuse and it is a lot. I removed that overhead light assembly and disconnected the 26pin connector. Pin 21 seems to be the +12VDC but I'm letting the car go to deep sleep and reaching through the window to confirm that it's still powered after a while. If it stays powered, I plan to tap into that Red/White wire with a Positap and feed the dashcam from there.

I highly recommend spending the $35 if anyone is interested in learning the ins and outs of the car. I just wish I still had access to iWire after tonight... :(

EDIT: It all works so some more pics. The first one below is the WX1 Front Interior Lamp assembly. You can see where the 26pin connector attaches. The second pic shows the cable dangling down. I got 12VDC from the red and white wire in this cable bundle. The ground is the large blue acorn nut. Note the metal clip I circled in red in the first pic. To get that assembly to go back into the ceiling correctly, I had to CAREFULLY remove that clip from the Front Interior Lamp assembly and install it in the socket circled in red in the second pic. Once I did that, it popped back in securely like new.
