Apple Car Keys and ID.4

Here is a link to Apple Car Keys a feature that will be added to CarPlay. Looks to me like it rides along on the "myVW" app once linked to CarPlay. It's supposed to allow locking and unlocking the ID.4 using an iPhone as well as sending someone your "keys" via a text message. The Apple video on the page linked below shows the details. I wonder when this might start working. I guess it's a couple of generations of software away for

Where did you see that the VW ID4 works with the Apple Key feature? It works with CarPlay, but I hadn’t seen the Apple Key feature being available.

“The ID4 is listed as working with this feature.”

Sadly, this is like the EV integration in Apple Maps: it's a feature that should be easy to set up but only works on "blessed" cars, even though Bluetooth connection is nearly universal in today's cars.

I know of no way to get either to work with the ID.4.
