Anyone got a way to easily find for vacation rentals with an on-site EV Charger?

I'm planning a vacation to the Shenandoah National Park Area this summer and there are very few charging options around the area. Plugshare shows some Level 2 chargers around but they're few and far between and I don't want to be up a creek if one of them is down or occupied.
Since Hotels with chargers are also limited in the area I'm searching for vacation rentals with an on-site EV charger.
AirBnB lets you filter on EV charger, but there's still very few that show up. I followed up with a couple of places that indicated they had an EV charger but both turned out to be just an outdoor accessible 120V plug, which while better than nothing, isn't super useful.
Anyone got any hot tips about how to make this work?

Consider switching your vacation to the Green Mountain National Forest in Vermont. If you stay at our place, Crossett Hill Lodge, you will find that access to our 32-amp level 2 charger is included in the rental. And your black ID.4 can make friends with our red ID.4.

Glad you asked! I was hoping to find a rental or a B&B in the Shenandoah area that has an L2 charger (and heavens...) is dog friendly. It's been quite a challenge with any of the tools I've used thus far. Obviously, a business opportunity 🤑

 

PlugShare has a charger listed at Skyland Resort. Looks like a beautiful place, I may book a long weekend up there this summer.

First order of business would be to make sure you have a Tesla Tap onboard - Most places, Tesla Destination chargers will outnumber standard L2 J-1772 chargers . . . . and the Tesla ones are often higher power, so you can recharge much quicker. Many Destination Chargers are 10 or 12 and even 16 Kw units and our cars can use 11 Kw, which sure beats the 24 or even 32 amp J-1772 units you might find

You can Google, "Destination Charger, Nashville" or whatever town or area you're searching for and usually find several. Many times, Motels will have just one J-1772 cord and 4 Tesla cords. You'll also find them at Malls, Restaurants and Shopping Centers. If you can recharge using the Tesla plugs, you'll at least triple the number of places you can charge

I found a destination charger via PlugShare at a riverside inn we'd never known about in the Methow Valley in WA. From the website it looks very nice. My wife and I intend to break in the ID.4 on that trip and others, once it finally comes.

This sounds like a bit of prep work will be required.

• Get yourself a versatile EVSE that can plug into various kinds of outlets. Mine is the Mustart Travelmate.
• Inquire with vacation rentals whether they have EV charging available.
• Absent that, whether there is access to a 240V outlet for EV charging.

Good luck with your planning. I'm sure it can be done with a a modicum of persistence.

 

My Tesla mobile connector with NEMA 5-20 adapter and Tesla to J1772 adapter has been invaluable for AirBnBs with outdoor 120V outlets. The 5-20 charges a bit faster than a standard 5-15 outlet and they're decently common on the outside of the homes we've stayed in. Just make sure you are charging every single second your car is at the house and it should top it off enough to be usable on vacation.

 

I use PlugShare when looking for hotels. You can turn on the “Show Only Hotels/Lodging Locations” filter.

Booking.com also has a charger filter, but cross-check with plugshare because they don't differentiate between a J-1772, a Tesla Destination charger or even a Tesla Supercharger. My wife almost booked a place because they said they had an EV charger. Turned out it was a Supercharger. Wah - wah.
