These instructions were for the front seats, but maybe same procedure applies for rear center seat.

Headrest removal

Anyone try to remove the headrest on your ID4? I bought a VW trash bag from vwparts.com and said it was compatible with the ID4. Tried removing headrest to mount the trash bag that would hang behind the passenger front seat, but no go. Looked in the manual and it shows two options, neither of...

Has anyone been able to remove the center seat head rest? It is blocking too much of the rear window. I have tried to remove but it appears to only have two notches to set. THanks.

I have my center headrest removed, I believe it was just like the left and right ones, where you have to push in a secondary button at the base of the other pole that's harder to press than the regular one you use for normal adjustment.

I always remove rear headrests and only put them on if someone actually sits back there because they block the view so much.

 

This is from an ID.3 but I think they are the same as in an ID.4. You have to push in the side of the base (Right side in image) of the head restraint you want to remove. When all the way at the top press in the other side (left side) as well then it will release.

 

Yeah, I can't stand how much the rear center head rest blocks the view especially with the rear view mirror. I'll be doing this the next time I get in the car.
