Constrained Charging

I'm not sure how else to describe it, except for constrained charging. The past two days, my ID.4 has sucked on my home L2 charger at 1-3kWh. It normally charges at nearly 11kWh.
  • I'm using a ChargePoint charger, with a 60A connection.
  • My utility (BGE) recently installed WeaveGrid on my account, and as far as I know, it's worked flawlessly in managing when to start charging.
I've rebooted the charger: Other than that, I'm at a loss. Is this an issue with the ID.4? ChargePoint? or power supply? Any and all advice on troubleshooting would be appreciated!

The first thing I would do is drive the car to a public L2 charger and try it there. Even though it won’t be as fast as your home setup, if it’s 24A that’s 5.7 kW (kilowatts not kilowatt-hours). That could tell you if the problem is or isn’t the car.

In practical terms: a million volts may or may not kill you — it depends on the amps. Likewise 50 amps may or may not kill you — it depends on the voltage.

And check the settings in your ChargePoint app, on the home tab. You can go there and dial down the charge rate… maybe you did that by accident?

Also check to see if somehow you accidentally checked "reduce AC charging current" in the car.

If you have a Home location set up and it has that checked, and you try a charger away from home that doesn't have a location set, the default might be set to not checked. So be careful about interpreting the "other charger works" scenario.
