It is true. If you unbuckle your seatbelt, and lift your butt from the seat, the car will turn off while driving. In my case I was trying to reach my dashcam that fell on the dash.

 

Wait, what? It turns off while actually driving in that scenario? Granted, it’s not something I would do, but that seems problematic. Does it just come to a stop? Can you regain control when your butt returns to the seat?

 

There might be a significant number of other "Don't do while driving the ID.4"tips that could be shared.

 

Maybe. However, the car should not turn off at all if already driving.

 

Maybe put a silicone fake ass on it while you scratch

 

Also it's the worst feeling when you're parking, backing up and you're lifting yourself up for a better angle and suddenly it stops like you hit something. (but it's because you lifted off the seat)

 

When my father taught me to drive, his main lesson was to park backwards only by using the rear-view mirrors and never turn me out of the driver's seat.
Now 37 years later, this is the most useful knowledge in the ID4.

 

Why would you take out your seatbelt to park with a huge backup camera/screen. Lol

 

Also I found if you are backing up and open your door to to look back the ID.4 will screech to a halt and you will fall onto the tarmac.

 

When first getting into my ID.4, I tend to 1. Sit down in the seat then 2. Wiggle into my final position as I attach the seat belt.

My ID.4 often switches the telematics off and back on again as I wiggle. Every other aspect of the telematics lags but it's lickity-split fast at turning off! ;-)

 

Just wanted to say that this happens to me (still, after a year of ownership) when I turn around to look behind me to parallel park. The backup camera is garbage in anything other than full daylight, so it's become a tradition to slam to a halt while parking...

 

Imagine engineering this many safety features and yet the infotainment still finds a way to hijack the car and crash it into trees 🙃
