I do need to read through my manual but is there an easy way to keep the car going when getting out of the seat? So frustrating when I hop out of the car for 2 seconds and it disconnects Android Auto and I have to wait 30 seconds for it to reconnect. They need a setting that maybe it shuts off after 60 seconds or when you hit the lock button. I've tried hitting the off/on button on the side but it doesn't seem to do anything.. still instantly shuts off when I get up out of the seat.

In my [more slippery leather seat] TT I would latch my seatbelt and then assure I was moved well back in the seat. But as we know movement in the seat of the ID.4 can be more problematic so I have reversed my habit pattern. Fortunately the higher fabric-friction of the V-Tex leatherette keeps me in place quite well.

This is something that needs to be addressed - Hopefully they can do it with one of the software updates. If they don't get started with them soon, there may be 50 small things that need addressing ASAP with the first one . . . . and we are gonna need one every 10 or 12 weeks like they promised just to get all the little nagging things squared away

With my wife staying belted in to the car, I exited and everything shut off - Radio & AC. I reached in, buckled my safety belt on the empty drivers seat and then pressed hard on the center of the drivers seat and everything came back on. I closed the door and she had AC & radio the whole time I was gone

These 'work arounds' are a pain - The car should know that if someone is staying in the car, they probably would like climate control, a radio & the ability to roll down a window . . . .

I ordered these from amazon to put in the seat belt before getting out of the seat and when I get out of the car, everything stays on while I get out to get the mail or run into a store etc.
You can take the key and lock the doors and everything stays running for your passengers.

often gets removed from Amazon due to legal concerns over its usage. I keep it installed on the passenger side and put it on the driver side as needed. easier than reaching for the entire passenger belt.

I’ve just had an entertaining time trying to pump up a tyre. First thing is the cigarette lighter plug is in the boot, took me a while to locate it. Fortunately it was a rear tyre otherwise I need to buy a new pump with a longer lead. Then it would only work if I was sat in the drivers seat, every time I got up the car turned off and no power to the pump. I couldn’t see the display when sitting in the drivers seat! Good tips above to see if keeps the power on when I get out of the car, will try that next time.

fo to a salvage yard with sharp cutting implement, find vw/audi, locate seat belt victem and sever belt to releace attachment device pictured. When you want to leave everything on when exiting vehicle, engage auto hold keeping foot on brake, release driver restraint and insert pictured device in attachemtn point, engage park and exit vehicle. Car shoud stay more than 1/2 hour.
This thing should cost anywhere from free to $5.00.

One of the shames about my seat belt extender (bought for previous cars) is that while the tongue of the extender engages with the ID.4's holster just fine, the particular shape of the plastic around the ID.4's seatbelt tongue prevents it from engaging with the extender's buckle. I guess that's just another bit of ID.4 “Intelligent Design”.
