No, still on the old 2.1 with 10 month old style battery. I was hoping it would survive until I get into the update Q, but it looks like its going to fail before then. Will showing this data on the charging bug and failing battery get me into the shop Q for the EFB+ and the 3.x update?
If you have technician that understands what you have....he should get you in for battery replacement.

can this 12V battery issues be solved by using something like this as soon as you get the error?
No, since the 12v is going bad, it won't solve it. I carry a booster like that since the 2021 recalled style 12v are proven to leave people stranded once they start getting weak and they can fail at any time. Boost it and I can at least get to a dealer to drop it for replacement, without having to call roadside assist for a tow.

To help maintaining SOH and maintaining 12V battery this is great company...but to help 12V battery that is dying....no 12V battery charger will work.
This is good tool to use every couple months to make sure 12V battery life lasts longer than expected.

On Tuesday I got the 12V error bring in for service. I have a 4 week old 2023 Pro S. I tried to bring it in on Wednesday, but the car died as I was backing out of my driveway, so I had to have it towed to the dealer. I spoke to the dealer several times before bringing it in, but they didn't tell me they had a 4 day wait to even look at the car until it arrived, and they won't give me a loaner. Other than insisting they replace the 12V battery, is there anything else I need to have them do?
Really annoyed.

Call customer service...and ask them to provide you with rental, open with customer service department case so this can be escalated and VW service departments can get in touch with your dealership.

New type....there are many things that can cause 12V battery to fail.
Over here in Canada, we have been having -24F temps and a shit load of people are getting the 12V fault message. all model year mixed are getting it. doesn't happen more on MY 2021 or 2023 with new software. I have V2.1 and got it yesturday while driving at about -20F. Did a 30 min preheat at home not connected to evse before leaving. W
as at 45% soc when I left. in the graph, 2 spikes occur on the 12V current. the first is when I stop 5 minutes at a store. the last spike was when I got out to charge at a electrify Canada station. The 12 fault message occured right after i left the parking lot of my first stop which was around 19:36 at which point my 12V was showing 12.02V while I was awaym increased to 12.46V when I got in the car and shot up to 15.3V when car turned on.

I am curious which 12v fault you are getting? I am now getting a mix of 4 different errors about my weak 12v problems. Which is just silly when I have a huge HV battery that should be able to keep the 12v at any voltage it desires.

The message I got was "Error: 12 power supply. Please service vehicle." Message went away while I was at a electrify canada charger. Never got any 12V errors in the past year with the car. Only once it was carnet saying couldn'T start because of 12V yet the car had not eeors or messages. that occured first week I had the car.

Its also strange that yours went directly to the more serious message about service, instead of the lesser error I have gotten about "12v battery low, keep driving to recharge". Did it go away quickly?

Maybe 15 minutes between showing and going away. Didn't see anything that the EC charging could have made. 12v temp was just as cold as the start, no power draw abnormal. It just went away.

I have this Stanley Fat Max 12V battery charger. 12 Volt Automatic Charger/Maintainer MPN:BC8S

It has several settings: fast charge, regular charge and "conditioning," which looks like a slow charge. While I have not seen the low 12V battery warning on the ID4 display, when I saw that others were having 12V problems, I began to (occasionally) run the conditioning routine on the ID4 battery (I have an early FE). This process has done no harm and, although it might be my imagination, I seem to have had fewer transitory hallucinations in the system software.

But I have wondered why it always takes about 6 hours to condition the battery. For comparison, I have used the Fat Max on my ICE vehicle (a Touareg TDI) and it takes 4 or 5 hours when the T-reg battery is low (after a month of non-use), and it takes about 20 minutes to condition the battery when the T-reg is close to fully charged.

Question: Does this suggest that the ID4's battery so weak or inadequate that it is always on the brink of failure? Or could there be a weakness in the protocol for charging the 12V battery from the high voltage battery?

Combination of both, however I feel the v2.1 s/w protocol is the weaker link.

btw: I have a number of the Stanley FatMax series tools. (y)

So, I had the same error this morning coupled with the high voltage system error. Check the battery voltage, it was 12.5v. Put an automatic charger on the battery, something was pulling about 8 amps but otherwise it made no difference. So after tearing some hair out what I did was pull the negative terminal, count to ten, and reconnect it (unplugged it and plugged it back in). All the warning lights came on and turned off one at a time - but the car was driveable. The cruise gave me an error until I got to work, parked it, and turned it back on. Then that too cleared up. I don't think this is a hardware problem, I think it's a software problem. My gut tells me that when all the 12v systems come on, they're doing it all at once instead of being staggered which causes a momentary drop in voltage, resulting in false negative readings. This to me is reinforced by random errors I'll get like the collision avoidance (the exact name is escaping me), the ACC system, or sometimes the 4G radio. For a quick workaround, I highly recommend VW just throws out a patch that allows you to cycle all those sensors by holding in the on/off button for about 5 seconds. $10 says that most of these anomalous readings has to do with a momentary 12v voltage drop.
