Took my 2024 ID.4 Pro S to the dealer today at 9:00am for the safety recall, 93CJ, I think. They had ordered and had the part in and told me everybody else would be waiting 4-6 weeks as none others were available at least here in Florida. They called at 3:00pm to say the car would not be ready until tomorrow. When I was at the dealer was told they had never done this repair before, which was a bit concerning but it is a new thing. They said something about removing the back wheels and I guess an axil and having to drop the main battery group out to get to the part. Also something about having to "de-energize the battery" before doing this. I had taken in the car at about 75% charge and could have brought in closer to 20% had I known. I'm worried about what the main battery condition will be after this and if I get a new 12 volt. more later

I’d rather have them take their time and do it right :) you don’t want bubbles in the coolant or anything installed improperly. Good luck and keep us posted

They have to go through a "de-energize" procedure to safely do diagnostics or work on the HV system.....they don't discharge the HV battery. Its kinda like a proper shut down of your computer rather than a hard power off.

And as to removing the wheels etc, on mine they removed the two trim panels (middle rear and rear), disconnected the coolant lines and removed the AX charger. Then they put it back together, bled the coolant lines and ran diagnostic tests.

It appears to me that the procedures provided by VW to the techs are quite precise and detailed; at my dealer only a couple of techs are "HV certified" so they do all the EV work, but they seems quite competent and provide detailed notes on the work they do right on the work order.
