There are menu settings for the screen brightness that act as an “Instrument Dimmer” for when the headlamps are on. I can't remember whether the ID.4 has a “Dark Mode” specifically for the Nav (my Volt does).

 

If you go to setup and set the screen brightness to high or very high.

Yes! Without ever going into that settings menu, somehow the setting was changed to the lowest setting. Fixed now. Thanks.

 

I guess I need to do that cause my screen is too bright when the headlights are on. Learn something new everyday 😁.

 

I am having the same problem with my screen, its very dim, and the interior lights are not working, and also the lights on the sun visor are not working, but the headlights and back lights work, I did not touch anything to adjust the lights, it was working one day and the next day it was dim, PLEASE SHARE WHAT YOU GUYS DID TO FIX IT. I did go under an option that showed LIGHTS and set it to max but the screen stayed dim.

 

There is an ambient light sensor located somewhere in the car (don't ask me where as I do not know).
This sensor brightens or dims the screen and interior lighting depending on how bright it is in the car.
It sounds like either this sensor has failed and thinks it is dimmer in the car than it really is,
or you have inadvertently covered the sensor with something.

 

I took my 2021 VW Atlas SE into the dealer today, and they told me that I need to replace the electrical system control module J519.
