I had a good experience at Moss Bros. Moreno Valley. I did have to wait around for quite a bit, while they got all the paperwork ready, but that's pretty standard for any car buying experience. And I live right down the street, so the salesman actually drove to my house later in the day to drop off the extra key. No crazy markup or games.

What was the dealer markup?

Santa Monica vw seems highly reviewed and was closest to me. Too early to tell but early experience not great. They only added me to their regular newsletter so I get emails selling me gas cars. I reached out for first time last week via email with two questions and received a form response from a salesman to call to discuss further. I called and he asked what my questions were... Which I didn't think was the greatest customer service.

One of my two questions was whether they had registered for newish California clean rebate ($1500 point of sale) ... They had not but were 'looking into it' And planning to register asap
I signed up for an ID4 PRO in December . With COVID the delivery was delayed until May. But when the car arrived I was very happy the the sales customer support. I was assigned to Bridget, which was VERY accessible with texting and calling personal phone etc. At the sale day (2 days after the car arrived), they were also able to match my financing request to underbid the good financing option I had with my local bank. So, in terms of purchase, it was a very good experience.

The $1500 is definitely left. The other one is currently without further funding.
FYI, the governor’s May revise budget released on May 13th restored $400M in funding to this program, and that’s expected to survive negotiations with the legislature over the next month. The final budget will be announced June 14th, but it seems pretty certain that this program will officially be re-funded as of that date. Get your applications in now to secure a spot on the waitlist (https://cleanvehiclerebate.org/eng); their website indicated 80 business days are needed to review applications, meaning an application submitted now will be reviewed in mid-October.

And for those of you buying from Pasadena VW, the city gives a $500 rebate to residents/PWP customers and a $600 rebate for smart chargers (a little less for non-smart chargers), so submit for those too. The feds also offer a 30% rebate of the cost of a charger AND the cost of installation.

I walked away from my FE reservation at CardinaleWay in Corona. I was in contact with the salesperson for the past 2 months. On at least 2 occasions before the car was shipped, she said they don't mark up or do add ons. I reach out to her to start the paperwork this past Tuesday. I've got a credit score over 800. They offered me 2.99 % for 60 months (wtf?). I noticed an add on for VIN etching, door guards, and nitrogen. So she blatantly lied. I tried to get the add ons removed or discounted. They wouldn't budge. They were really arrogant about it too. Telling me if I don't take it, someone else will. They also mentioned I'm not the first person to cancel their reservation. They were definitely a bunch of unprofessional and unethical people. I don't recommend them at all.
Mine is getting delivered to Cardinaleway also. Based on your experience, i have sent Victoria a text today asking her not to add any dealer addons. She did not reply. Lets see what happens.
I have a bit of time to change dealerships. Anyone have better experience elsewhere?

CardinaleWay in Corona has to be the worst dealership. I found a good price for e-golf on their website 2 years ago. I coordinated with the internet contact person confirming the price and availability. Upon arriving, they "ran the numbers" and couldn't sell at the quoted price. On top of that, they had added nitrogen gas, etching, and other add-ons. Wasted a four hours for the commute and time spent. I will never do business with them or recommend them to anyone.

I have already posted in another thread. Long story short, they tried to force the protection package($1485) on me. My car has not even left Germany. I got VW corporate involved. I now have a promise from the dealership that there will be no add-ons. I tried to change dealers, but i am too far in the process to change.

I read your other posts. I'm glad you reached out to corporate and got CardinaleWay to honor your reservation as is. I'm getting mine through Norm Reeves (Irvine) and so far, so good. The GM even emailed me the following:

"We will let you know when your car is in route to the dealer and it will be a smooth transaction once the car arrives. We are not installing any equipment or adding anything to these cars as they are reservation vehicles and built and reserved for you, the way you wanted. "

What's your status right now? 20-2?

Unfortunately i am sitting at 20-1 for the past two weeks. I know there are three ships in dock in Emden right now. I am hoping my car gets on at least one of them

I recently learned how to find my code and it's 20-2. My VIN ends with 578XX. I hope it's on the GLOVIS SUN that left 5PM our time today from Emden. It's set to stop in Santa Marta, Colombia before going through the Panama Canal. It should arrive in San Diego on October 26. Transport to the dealer should be 7-10 days. So first week of November. If yours doesn't make it on GLOVIS SUN, hopefully it'll get on the RCC Europe that has a schedule a week after the GLOVIS SUN.

Now that you are at 20-2, the dealer should be able to look at their software to confirm. They have a "logistics" section that has the vessel number and port of entry. I was hoping for the Glovis Sun also, but am still at 20-1 today, so it's probably going to be the RCC Europe next week. It's the only other ship scheduled for the west coast at this point. I'm out near Palm Springs trying to patiently wait!

I got a phone call and email from dealer that my ID.4 is arriving tonight and I can pick it up tomorrow. My status is now 35-2. I guess my car was not on the Glovis Sun that is transversing the Panama Canal at the moment.

Apparently there was a ship that dropped off ID.4's in San Diego in September, I wasn't tracking them then and am not sure which one it was. I believe one person's car that was included was produced in late August. Mine was built in mid-September with a vin that ends in 594XX. It is in transit now, possibly on Glovis Sun, but not sure.

I picked up mine today. Spent about 2.5 hours at dealership with most of that time waiting. My rep was with another client when I got there. After paperwork was done, my rep was juggling between getting my plates/stickers/app and another client. Process was relatively smooth though I had to ask them to remove an "accessory" and provide the best rate (2.12%) available. I'll write up my experience another time. Just glad to have the vehicle in my possession.

I'm now an AWD Pro lessee. This was a vehicle I reserved 9/23/20.
I can recommend Andy and the rest of Galpin VW, at least for reservation holders.
No add-ons, MSRP, and I got buy rate (tier 1 credit) for the lease's money factor. I posted lease details in this leasing thread.

No add-ons, MSRP, and I think I got close to buy rate (tier 1 credit) for the lease's money factor (he showed me screenshot of finance's software with 0.00143 and no adjustment). I will post lease details in a leasing thread.
Great to hear. Andy and Raff were the folks I worked with too back in April. I felt they were pretty straight up then.

Have Fun!

I got mine at Timmons in Long Beach. Here is my story, sit tight.
I change cars quite frequently so I do have a bunch of experience buying & selling but I'll never get use to all the things that happen in a car sales transactions and I'm still always learning. Anyway mine kind of like stars aligned for me, lol. Well I'm coming from a 1 year old M3 and a 2020 Miata that has only been driven for a total of 4100 miles for the whole year. I've been wanting to change cars since we installed full solar in our home and installed panels that would support 120% of what we need anticipating to go electric car in the future plus I'm paying almost $1500 a month for while it sits happy most of the time in my garage while burning my pocket.
Both would have still been upside down if not for ridiculous used car prices in this market. Well, I checked out online offers and Carmax offered me prices for both that paid both of of my loans. So that made it possible, then I was eyeing for a Tesla Y. Did a test drive and was just so so for me. But the price was definitely a no no. So for whatever reason the ID4, not knowing anything about it, popped as a suggestion in Youtube. Did a few more vids and I just can't stop telling myself this is the right first electric car for us. It check all the points.
So did my research, called up several dealerships around L.A./Southbay area. They usually say 5 to 7 in stock online inventory but once I call them they say they are actually already reserved but I can come down and look at it and place an order. I am not into ordering a car. Then I called Timmons just for the sake of because I usually don't buy from them because they never discount base on my experience plus they don't have an ID4 showing online. I called them and found out they have two and what's even better is they have the car ext/inter color I want (blue/grey). I went there and damn it is the car I want and its available but with a 5k markup and 3k worth of not needed accessories they put on every car. No wonder its not selling. But I did my thing and they did there thing and I ended up with MSRP no markup but 2500k in extra stuff (int/ext reconditioning for 8 years, windshield/dentrepair/keyreplacement/roadside for 5 years and lifetime clearshield pro which protects door handles and edges) Considering my way lower monthly payment and the incentives I thought it was okay. Our salesman Baeu (Bo) knew more than the average sale man specially with this car since I am new of it and electric cars. I was able to test drive a 1st edition they had for demos. The Manager was a bit loud but he did say that's just how he is and it was the fastest finance experience I had since we were the only customer there. The car so far is great. Does have a lot of things I have to learn. Kept me busy the past few days. Are you really still reading this?

Currently ordered an ID4 pro, with the dealership on record as Palm Springs Volkswagen, so far they have agreed to msrp for the price but are pushing an 500 dealer desert protection package that I am currently fighting. I’ve asked to speak to the manager to have it not added to the vehicle, does anyone have any experience with this dealership?
