Everybody: "I hate the idea of subscription services!!!"
Also everybody: "I will sell my soul to get adaptive headlights!!!"
VW: "Huh? What?" 🤪

Sent them a message about pricing information. Looks like they charge $700 for the Audi Matrix Light activation which seems pretty steep. Their facebook page mentions a promotion, I guess we'll see.

Looks like they're offering it for $400 which is still pricey for what is just coding that should be possible with OBDeleven. Not sure if I can justify spending that much for a feature that I personally won't get that much use living in SoCal. Might be worth it for rural drivers.

how is this delivered? I'd be afraid that this would be removed by the next software update.

I don't think a dump would help - it's the actual programming in the light module itself.
Yeah, I think this confirms everything we saw with how they do the coding for Audi and the golf. You have to actually flash the module with new software, which obdeleven doesn’t do. And if software updates to that module later on change the code again, you’ll have to either have the device/subscription to make the changes again or pay the company again to do it for you.

yup. $400-700 is way too much for something that can get deleted.

Europrice will also now offer this service.

When I asked them about it a while ago they said that it requires VIN (specific? compatible?) datasets which they did not yet have access. Asked again recently and forgot to post here that they now are able to do the light programing.

"Re-Activation - In the event that a dealership wipes the activation(s) during a service or repair free re-activation is available for as long as the customer owns the vehicle. "

Very interested! The price isn't too bad compared to Porsche; which usually around $1,100.

Do we know this for sure? VW Technician previously said that 3.1.4 contained all the firmware necessary in the lights to enable this, and it was up to figuring out the coding across the modules, and gave some hints. And he/she seems to know what they're talking about, proven many times. :)

Mentions: Here, here, and especially here ("Fellas looking for matrix lights will be happy because it will have all necessary things to make matrix light module and windshield camera module to work in sync to have High beams on non stop and not blind vehicle in front or incoming vehicle from opposite line."), and here. (Not sure what "limited in its ability to work correctly is referencing though....maybe there is limited functionality in what we can do with OBDEleven, and these companies have a more robust solution. For sure though there is coding that could be shared to see what it enables...)

My '23 ID.4 is in collision, but when I get it back will likely pull the trigger on this. It's been gone for 3 months, so hopefully I'll see it again someday. :(

I hadn't remember seeing anything from VW Technician in a few months. I tried looking at this profile, but it no longer existed. Then I noticed his user status. Oh my. I must have missed something.

Oh shit what happened?
Somehow the person behind the VW Technician account was switched. From what I saw AI was used to generate posts under that account which resulted I a ban.

Really unfortunate as they provided tons of useful info in the past.
