You need an OBDEleven account, app, and dongle (not sure if the old version can be used). I've tested for me and it does heat the batter up a little(forgot the numbers) but is impractical to use any time other than in a parking lot waiting for a charger to be available. The hood must be popped to run, the app needs to stay on the same page when running(preventing actively looking at stats), and it only runs for 5(ish?) minutes at a time.

Something I am curious about, but was not able to confirm is, what power the PTC heater is running at and what pump level the coolant loop is flowing at.

Is an OBDELeven account free? Just want to know before upgrading from VeePeak to OBDEleven.
I thought the popping the hood part was just to initialize the pre-heating function. Once initialized, you can drive and pre-heat as needed during the journey until car is turned off.

A basic account is free, and this particular one click app currently costs zero credits(likely because it is not that useful, and no one would use it otherwise).

They have a couple of sales right now, but if all you are upgrading for is this battery preheat function I would recommend against it. If you are doing diagnostics it is pretty good, but if you are looking for live data output it is not that pleasant to use and it not compatible with third party apps. This is primarily used for coding mods(only company that presently does SFD unlocks via official channels) and diagnostic capabilities.

Unfortunately it is something that only runs for 5 minutes at a time and requires the hood to be popped(not open, but still not good for driving). Effectively it is initializing a function test of the PTC heater to see if it is working, not calling some preheat function, and users have played around with calling this function out directly before the app was made(has the same limitations).
