I think the advertised numbers for both range and charging speed are very misleading. Not sure how to fix it given the many variables, but a start would be to increase the speed of the EPA's "highway" test from 50 MPH to 80 MPH. And then to quote the range based on something sensible like 20-80% charge. And then to quote the charging speed using a battery that is at a realistic 50 degrees F.

None of this is going to happen. Another EV learning experience. But as the customer profile changes from early adopter to regular person just wanting to get to work, it is going to be a serious pain point.

I might try the car's navigation system again one of these days, but to do so I would have to use the touch screen which I'm trying to never use.

I have used EA four times. Three of the four were 30 minute charges to 80%. The starting SOCs for those three were 19%, 31%, and 39%. The fourth one had anomalies (source unknown) where the charge rate fell three times to 30kw, then returned to normal after two minutes. That charge took 42 minutes, but would have been closer to 30 minutes without the anomalies. The starting state of that charge was 13%.

My mantra is 30-ish minutes to charge to 80%.

I have used EA (and others) more than 50 times, and I agree.

Overnight low was 85f still not helping. That preheating theory is a myth 🤔 Maybe it's a VW safety precaution. I'm hooked into the 350kw and it's a nice 88f here. No diff still charging at a slow 83kw. 2023 id 4 Pro S

Death Valley showing 123 degrees F right now, maybe you could get a fast charge there? No, because they only have L2 chargers. I suppose that is enough juice to keep the A/C running enough so you don't literally bake in your car.

If you start at 57% and charge at 30 kW, it’s going to take about half an hour to get to 80%. But as the battery warms up during charging it will get faster, maybe to twenty minutes total. Trying to significantly improve this might not be worth the effort.
