I'm with you, not to knock the Rivian in your example but I've looked here and there when a new EV presents itself and it's either the wrong form factor or there's something with the ADAS or some other quirk that immediately takes the shine off of it.
Despite the list of "problems" I can recite with respect the ID.4, as a launch customer mine has been superb at being a reliable and comfortable car not just for day-to-day, but for longer excursions thanks to its solid automation.
If I had to replace the ID.4 today, I know for sure my wife would want to look at our options, but I have this suspicion that we would end up in the seat of a newer model year ID.4.
