Jalopnik summarized a bunch of first reviews after embargo, apparently Vinfast was not pleased with Jalopnik initial review so they were not invited back. I feel very bad for the early adopters of this one unless they got a screaming lease deal.

VW and their software woes...........Vinfast "hold my beer".

Vinfast VF8 is very very bad

Vinfast looks like it's well on it's way to becoming the Yugo of the EV era — except their pricing (~$50k) is not what I would call inexpensive. Yugos were cheap in every sense of that word; from all reports, the Vinfast seems to be cheaply made while still costing a lot.

It's sad because I think there's a market in the U.S. for a high-quality, basic EV in the sub $25k category, as the Bolt has been showing over the past year. Unfortunately, automakers are incentivized by the current system in the U.S. to build and sell higher-priced, higher-margin models.

A sad tale.... I lived in Vietnam for two years, so I was hoping the car would be a success. Vinfast took a big risk bringing a car to the US in such record time. Hopefully they are working on resolving the many issues. It seems they've made a poor first impression, but, in spite of that, I suppose they'll improve the VF8 and also come out with better models. Now I'm going to have to test drive the VF8 for sure.

I test drove a Mache not long after it came out and the shift knob came loose or was missing (can't remember).
Both myself and the salesman couldn't get it to do the self-parallel parking after 4 tries. There were numerous other problems too. Couldn't understand why a car with so few miles on it could have so many things going wrong.

Bought a new Honda CRV in 2012 and thought it was downright dangerous in accident avoidance situations on the freeway. Almost rolled it twice in situations that most cars, including SUVs, could probably handle without the drama. And I'm the guy who has had only one accident (a solo rollover in a beat up '56 rear-engined Beetle on black ice at night at 68 mph) above 5 mp. Knock on wood. I've driven my ID4 SUV over 40K miles and it has never once acted like it wanted to roll over. Same can be said for my '14 CX-5 SUV which also handled well.
