VW Infotainment hotspot

I started with the free trial for infotainment hotspot now that the trial is over, there is no longer a network plan. I just want to connect to CarPlay with my phone via Bluetooth and not the WiFi because when I do my phone is unable to connect to the internet because it keeps attempting through the WiFi connection. The infotainment is also very inconsistent. I can sometimes turn off the hotspot and still connect to CarPlay and other times it seems I MUST turn on the hotspot in order to connect to CarPlay. This is getting very frustrating. Does anyone know a solution to this?

Thanks guys yeah I think forgetting the network and Bluetooth on my phone and forgetting my device on the ID.4 and then just reconnecting with only Bluetooth solved the problem
