Thanks! I'll try #3 to see if that works for the wipers but how does #4 solve the shut off upon exit problem?

I thought the shut off upon exist is controlled by a weight-pressor sensor in the drivers seat. Is this not so?

It's not a big deal but I'd just rather the car stay "on" when I exit the car until I deliberately turn it off (which obviously isn't possible w/o an on/off button) but was possible w/my 2017 Bolt and with other non-EV vehicles that I own which did/do have such a button.

Do you also happen to know why I can't use the arrow keys (on the steering wheel &/or on screen) to skip to another radio channel on the available channels on screen?

The only way I figured out how to do that is to use just the "scan" mode.

I haven't saved or memorized any channels. So, I'm guessing the arrow keys only work for "saved' or memorized channels. Haven't tried to save any channels to test this theory yet but is this the case?
Yes the immediate climate just keeps the car “awake” in that the battery contactors remain closed so the system is powered up, and it keeps the climate on for any passengers remaining inside… it doesn’t keep everything on, however… what else do you want the car to keep doing after you get out?

And I don’t listen to the terrestrial radio, but the up/down arrows on the right side of the wheel skip tracks on streaming radio.

The Satellite Radio is spotty. It cuts n and out unless you’re in wide open spaces. They’ve replaced everything and the problem persists. It doesn’t interfere with how the car drives, but it’s annoying
It's been like that for me in multiple cars.

BEVs don't have spare tires to save weight.

You have to provide your own spare tire, jack, tire wrench etc.

Deeply discussed here . . .
I'm already well aware of this. I was just listing it as one of my "complaints" and leased my ID4 in spite of it.

It's just my opinion that any car that does not include a spare should at least come with runflat tires

I own a BMW for which I purchased & carry an emergency spare, jack, etc. But the BMW originally came with runflats. and I installed non-runflats on it for better handling performance, which IMO necessitated the purchase of the emergency spare and other equipment because I often drive it far from home.

I do not plan to do this w/my ID4 because I only drive it locally (w/in 20 miles) of my home but am carrying the tire compressor and extra cans to tire inflator to avoid the need to call AAA for a tow.

I just don't like the car turning off when I step out of the car for a few seconds, whether it's to check the mail or look for something in the trunk. Wasn't an issue in my Bolt that used an on/off button. It's not the end of the world but is a minor annoyance to me.

I just updated my prior post to say that I tried saving a few channels and the arrow keys now work even though I deleted all of channels that I saved. So, that problem is now "solved."

Thanks, I successfully did this this as previously suggested by another member and it works but I still think it's dumb to design a car that you have to put into "service mode" in order to just lift the wiper arms in order to clean the windshield under them and to replace the wipers when necessary.

Not the end of the world but still an annoyance to me. 🤷‍♂️

The most annoying thing is that it is otherwise a great car hobbled by a series of small annoyances (some of which could be fixed in software if they ever get their act together)

1) click OK each time you get in the car to dismiss a user profile modal
2) settings that randomly reset every couple weeks
3) unnecessary capacitive touch buttons everywhere (e.g. adjust the rear view mirror: you will call roadside assistance by mistake, lean your hand on the door rest: you will activate the child locks by mistake)
4) no physical knobs for volume and temperature control (this is a problem in most EVs)
5) car is done charging: approach the locked car to unplug the cable, but since you have proximity unlock enabled (which is great), it unlocks the doors, it then wakes up and decides to start charging again, forcing you to unlock via the keyfob to release the cable

I don't understand how a large company can't put a handful in cars in testing with some UX experts early on and gather the necessary feedback. Or maybe they did and were overruled by managers who thought it needed to be more "high techy".
Every one of those is valid. Not a game changer or super-annoying, but my #1 would be the "having to dismiss a user profile" and right behind it is having to always start CarPlay, which is actually my #1, now that I think about it.

  • Remembers settings but doesn't act on them, e.g., charging to more than selected limit
This one I may be able to help you with: I had this happen once and was fairly annoyed until I realized it was my own fault (not saying that you've done the same thing, if this isn't what's happening to you.) After using your "home" settings (for instance) you have to back out of that menu and confirm that the menu reads "charge direct to 80%" or whatever that reads, and if you click on that menu, I think it also gives you the ability to charge to other settings as well. That was what I did incorrectly; I'd charged to 100% the day before and didn't realize it was a 2-step confirmation. After you slide the menu to 100% or 80% or whatever, you're not quite done and still need to confirm. Note: I'm remembering this from 2 months ago when it last happened because I just charged last night and I can't repeat the process enough to verify the steps. Regardless, it's somewhere in that main charging menu, after you back out of the delayed charging/timer page. Hunt around and you'll find it even if I've gotten a couple of details wrong.

No, I hate it when I don't have to make a 3 point turn.*

*This post is meant to be funny.
Okay; that's better. I tow a trailer frequently and I just discovered that I can do a complete turn in my driveway to back the trailer into the garage. I never even tried it because my last tow vehicle (also AWD) wouldn't come close to that and I'd have to jockey back and forth for a half hour (okay: 15 minutes) and I was still seldom lined up properly.

#1 complaint: the butt sensor. If I lift one cheek just a bit off the seat, the car turns off. There are better ways to determine whether the driver has left the car. #2 complaint: the dealer network seems to have little understanding of the software and/or whether they will ever be able to perform updates.

On the plus side, build quality is better than the Tesla 3 in our other garage bay.
Hmmm.... It turns off based on weight? I thought it simply recognized the smell of your behind.

For us, it’s the backup sensor and the Emergency Maneuvering being too sensitive and not smart enough to recognize plants branches, the driveway, and sidewalks. We have a moderately sloped driveway and can’t back down at a normal speed without tripping the emergency braking, so we can only go 1mph down. Also having a bike rack on the trailer can cause it to trip, so I always have to turn off Maneuver Braking. My 2018 RAV4 never has this problem.

I wanna change mine - the brakes slamming on when I try to back into my driveway is worse than the charge port location. Of course I wouldn’t have to back into my driveway if the port were situated better

It would be nice to lock the doors in the app. Also, if the car can recognize you coming towards the car and unlock the doors then why can't it lock the doors when walking away?
It would be nice not to have all this stupid electronic gadgetry, locking, unlocking, radio on or off (at its own whim, not mine), lights controlling themselves ........ , it goes on and on. Modern cars are horrible. Just leaves normal things to the operator.

I agree 100% on the butt sensor, if fact I feel it’s dangerous. Send an alarm/hear or something, but don’t interfere with the mechanics. That is very dangerous and could cause injur.
